The Eldest thought it would be fun for us to spend the day at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. A two hour ride West from where she lives.
The plan was to ride the tram around the zoo. We ponied up $2 per rider and got a paper bracelet that would allow us to get on and off the tram to see the exhibits. The driver said we wouldn't have to walk up hill all day. Cool! Trams made the rounds every 20 minutes or so.
The Merry-Go-Round was closed.
The Pink Flamingo Club
Perfect pose.
It's too hot. Maybe it's cooler closer to the ground.

Does this pole make my neck look fat?
After seeing the animals of the African Savanna, we waited for the tram. And waited. And waited. Finally, the tram came to the stop, but no one got off! So a pretty good take for the zoo. They just don't tell you, you may never be able to get back on the tram. Caveat emptor. Buyer beware.
A Madagascar Ring-tailed Lemur
There were lots of primates, but it was dark inside the exhibit so though I took lots of pictures, it's hard to make out what's in them.
You can pick your toes in Pittsburgh as well as Poughkeepsie.

This polar bear was happy basking in the sun.
This polar bear, not so much.
Tyger, tyger, burning bright.
So ends the trip to the zoo.
Wonderful zoo photos, I always enjoy watching the animals. Sorry about the tram! Have a great week, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThe tram didn't work out, but it didn't spoil the whole day.
DeleteIt looks like you had a fun visit to the zoo! So many animals to see, I enjoyed seeing them all with you and your comments made me smile too especially the giraffe ...lol 😉. Have a great day! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteFor a relatively small zoo, there were quite a number of animals
DeleteIt would never occur to me that I wouldn't get a seat on the tram either! :( But it looks like you still had fun!
ReplyDeleteYeah, we still had a good time. The tram was mainly for Himself as he's having back issues and difficulty walking. Fortunately, there were quite a few places to sit and rest. He was a good sport, too.
DeleteI love seeing all your zoo photos. It looks like a fun day out, and what's a bit of driving when you can't do the zoo on a regular basis? Looks like it was worth the time. Happy Monday. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThe zoo was a nice outing. Since our trip involved a lot of driving, I wish the zoo had been closer.
DeleteIt's a shame about the tram :( I'm glad you were able to make a fun day of it despite that set-back. Great photos -and captions ;)
ReplyDeleteThe tram would have made things easier, but it was still a good time.
DeleteWhat fun! Looks like the animals are in a good environment.
ReplyDeleteThe zoo looked well maintained.
DeleteWhy are places/organisations like that the world over! I guess you had to walk the rest of the way. If it is busy, why don't they have another tram going around! Grrrr! I feel for you.
ReplyDeleteThere were two trams. the problem was once people got on, they wouldn't get off. Just seemed happy to be driven by the exhibits and catch a glimpse of an animal if they were lucky.
DeleteFirst, I want to let you know I got your lovely ATC. Look for it in my T Tuesday post. I'll be back soon to see the zoo.
ReplyDeleteSo glad it arrived.
DeleteVERY COOL! This place looks awesome! My sister-in-law (although she now lives here in Reading, PA) comes from Erie, PA and is very familiar with the Pittsburgh area.
ReplyDeletethe Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium is a nice place for an outing.
DeleteYour captions are hilalrious, CJ! My favorite is "Does this pole make my neck look fat?"
ReplyDeleteHimself says: Don't encourage her.
DeleteBuyer beware is right. That's a sad thing. My friend Sally and I rode the tram (at our zoo, it was part of the zoo experience, at no extra charge) and we got to get on and off as we chose. However, the trams at our zoo were only around every 45 minutes or so, so waiting in the hot sun was often not a very good option. The first time we went, we walked a lot and saw only a single area of the zoo. The second time, we took the tram and saw every area, but few animals. It was mostly nice to get the layout of the land. The third time, Sally had a walker and we walked a LOT. Saw lots more than anyone could ever see on the tram, but very exhausting, even for someone who doesn't tire that easily.
ReplyDeleteI simply adore the comments you gave for each photo you shared. I laughed at several, and enjoyed the species I'd never seen before: the red hydrant (grin). Looks like it was a nice zoo at least. Thanks for taking us with you.
It was a nice zoo. The tram would have made things a bit easier on Himself. At least he didn't have to walk up hill both ways.
DeleteI love your trip to the zoo CJ! Excellent photos! I love your captions! LOL! Sorry about the tram!! That is too bad!
ReplyDeleteFortunately, there were lots of shaded spaces to sit and rest.
DeleteGood!
DeleteI enjoyed seeing your zoo photos.
ReplyDeleteThat was a shame about the tram though.
All the best Jan
