How Does Your Garden Grow?

A new, out of focus, visitor.

A toadstool in the butterfly garden

The weeds are doing well in the butterfly garden, but the echinacea bought the farm

The milkweed at Red's house has pink blossoms on them. No flowers or hint of flowers on these.

The hot weather has made the meadow area grow with wild abandon

The boneset has bloomed.

The mystery plant in Ink's garden has been identified. Yup, it's a weed. Here's one growing in the meadow.

Some rumbles of thunder, but no rain this week.

Licorice came out for a late afternoon snack.

It's birthday month for the girlies. The doorbell has been programmed to play the birthday song.

How does your garden grow?

  1. How nice that the dragonfly visited you. Your garden is thriving. Just got back from an early morning walk, but it's already very hot outside. And inside! Have a nice day, hugs, Valerie

  2. Good morning, lovely post we have been seeing more snakes here too-the good ones so we don't mind-they must love the heat and humidity.
I lost all of my milkweed plants sadly and the one that comes back every year and is even staked inside yellow stakes got weed eated from the lawn mower person sigh
love that you door bell plays happy birthday-fun
    hugs Kathy

    1. So far the plastic fencing around Ink’s garden and the milkweed has kept the weed whacker at bay

    2. Loved the wonder through the gardens! Especially liked the bunny! and of course the milkweed! Having trouble with my milkweed as my kind neighbor mowed it down last time he did my weed patch that passes for a lawn! I am going to buy some milkweed seeds and get a patch going for the monarchs! and bees and any one who wants to sip from them and where they wont have to fear the mower!!! What a lovely set of photos!!!!!!

  6. I want a doorbell like yours CJ! That is so cool! I love all the photos you got this week! Unfortunately, I have to take out some of my tall weeds today! The hot weather has made everything grow like crazy. I don't want the "neighbours" complaining! LOL! Happy Birthday to your girlies!!

  7. We get dragonflies here, but I've never been able to get a photo. I've tried milkweed and butterfly weed both without success. I was told echinacea would spread out and take over, but mine is barely surviving. I may plant trees, go for shade, and quit trying to attract butterflies lol

    1. Garden books and experts make it sound easy to attract butterflies and bees. They lie.

    2. My annuals in pots do ok, and the black-eyed susans and bee balm. But I'm tempted by a redbud tree someone has offered me.... ;)

  8. Your garden is definitely doing better than mine. I haven't mowed in about three weeks and definitely don't feel like starting the mower. It's times like these I wish I either had a hubby or was rich and could hire someone to do all the work I see ahead of me once I'm feeling better.

I am truly impressed with the lovely birthday banner and the birthday chimes. You think of EVERYTHING, dear.
