Happy Mail

The United States Postal Service (USPS) offers Informed Delivery in some areas. I was surprised that the service is offered in my back of beyond, little town.

At 8 AM, Monday through Saturday, USPS sends me an email with images of the bills, letters, and cards that will be delivered to my house. Most times, the images are just bills, but one morning I was giddy to see a letter from my friend, Tiggy, in Scotland. And then had to wait until late in the afternoon when the mail is delivered.

Inside the envelope, a handmade cover decorated with stars and tied with a bow. A postcard from Tiggy saying she had cleaned out some stuff and found something. She hoped I could give "the poor, wee fella a home."

Inside, a cancelled stamp of David Tennant as the 10th Doctor from Doctor Who. In 2013, Royal Mail issued a series of Doctor Who stamps to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show which first aired on 23. November 1963.

Tiggy didn't know, but I had coveted these stamps, but she did know of my crush on the 10th Doctor. She even framed the stamp in a heart.

    1. You can go here:

      https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action

to see if informed delivery is available in your area. If it is, you can sign up. I also have a PO Box so I find it really helpful to know whether I have to go to the post office or not.

  7. After you gave Deb the address for the mail, it showed my zip was eligible, but I had to sign up to see if my address was. I think I'll just stay ignorant and let the PO help others. I've no need for e-mail, anyway (grin).

I LOVE David Tennant. As far as I'm concerned, he is the ONLY Dr. Who. All others pale in comparison. Your friend is the BEST!

    1. As I said, I primarily use it for the PO Box. This way, I know if I have to make a trip to the PO.

All the Doctors have their moments, but as you said, Tennant's Doctor is THE Doctor

  9. I had seen a commercial about that usps service-I thought it was odd at first. we have a post box too but we drive up into our tiny post office and check it every day-but now that we are getting older I can see it would be nice to know if it is worth driving to the post office or not-may look into that when we get moved to the lake

    1. I find it convenient that I don't have to make the trip to find mail for the person who owned the same PO Box decades ago.

  11. I've never heard of Informed Delivery. That's service above and beyond!

The 4th Doctor was my first and will always be my favorite, but each one is a new discovery :) What a treat to get mail like that.

    2. There are more of us than anybody else, because he was The Doctor for so _long_ and is still participating in it. He's a treasure :) I'm in a minority, though, in liking Eccleston as much as I do. I wish he'd stuck around longer.

    3. I was in high school when Doctor Who with Tom Baker was shown on PBS. I equated PBS with Sesame Street, Electric Company, and a local children’s production called Zoom

Eccleston was my first Doctor when the Young One got me hooked on New Who. I didn’t like him at first. Not until the episode Father’s Day and then I was really getting to like him... well.. I didn’t want to like Tennant, but he stole my 💙. He’s my Doctor. I have enjoyed all the Doctors even some of the classic Doctors.
