What's this in a hermetically sealed cellophane wrap? It's a first day of issue envelope to celebrate the Year of the Ox, the next Chinese Zodiac animal in the Lunar New Year stamp series.
It's from Finnbadger of Envelope 100
Not only a first day cover, but also a lovely notecard. I don't know when the card was mailed since it was in cellophane there is no postmark. The card is dated 24. March. It would have been fun to know where and how far this card traveled before it reached me.
Thanks, Finn. It was a nice surprise and so good to hear from you.
Surprises in the mail are great! This is really lovely. Have a great week, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThis stamp series is so beautiful
DeleteSeems I missed the Year of the Ox, which is strange, because I'm a big fan of Chinese New Year. Lucky you to get this wonderful first edition. I really LIKE the stamps.
ReplyDeleteI didn't hear about it either and don't remember seeing previews of the stamps if you wanted to order
DeleteI didn't know they did first day postage for Chinese New Year. That is really cool! An it was happy mail, which is always great. Happy new week CJ!
ReplyDeleteIt was happy mail. Finn hasn't been blogging for awhile so I was a little worried about him. Guess he's just been busy
DeleteHappy Mail! Mother got first day covers for a while, and they were such fun to see.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize USPS does notecards with first day covers.
DeleteThe note cards were from the last year of the ox issue... 12 years ago.

DeleteThat is the coolest ox drawing I've ever seen! Lucky you! :D
ReplyDeleteThe card is gorgeous
DeleteI looked it up on the USPS website and the issue of that stamp was last Feb. 2. in Chinatown, Chicago. This year’s issue was virtual, but Chicago is the official city of issue. It looks like a great collectible item!
