Scheduling Blog Posts

May is turning to be a busy month for me. When it turns busy, I find it helpful to schedule blog posts in advance. I used to write future blog topics on bits of paper which would get lost or pile up all over the place.

Last year, I found this blackboard calendar. It's like a white board and uses erasable chalk pens. It's magnetic and really meant to go on a fridge, but I stuck it to my wall with Command hook strips. I can fill in the month and topics I want to write about. Because the chalk pens are erasable, topics can easily be moved around.

Do you schedule blog posts in advance? What do you use to keep track of topics?

  1. Cool calendar! I usually write my posts the day/night before and have many as draft. Luckily blogger allows you to list all drafts.

    1. I've used the draft feature and then I forget to go look in the drafts 😺

  2. I schedule most posts in advance, and my themes are usually connected to whatever challenge is running. I have a blackboard in the kitchen but it's only used for writing up things I've run out of, and I rarely remember to look before I go shopping! Valerie

    1. I keep a grocery list on my phone and half the time don't look at it while I'm in the grocery store 😺

  3. I try to write and schedule posts at least a few days in advance, unless I'm behind like I have been this month. Then my posts, which are attached to my challenges, are lucky to make it a day in advance. You found a good system that works for you, at least.

  4. I schedule blog posts on Blogger, one a day, into the foreseeable future. When I finish a book or movie I find the next available open spot on Blogger and schedule it for that day. When I come across an artist with a drink-related painting I schedule a blog post for a likely-looking T Tuesday spot. I schedule 42s for once a month, so those are scheduled well in advance.

    1. Wed. are scheduled when I find the cartoon. Usually, I am 6 mos. ahead. T Day and other topics are sometimes a week or 2 ahead. I usually blog ahead on Sunday.

  5. I do not schedule posts in advance so to speak - I just go into the dashboard and start one then save it until I can finish it. No biggie.

    1. It's just this month work came in so trying to get stuff on the blog a month ahead of time. Heaven forbid, I don't have a blog post scheduled 😺

  7. What a great idea! I have never scheduled blog posts other than setting a second blog post to go live the next day if a post gets too long and I need to split it in two.

  8. I do schedule most posts in advance, but not all. Some just don't work in advance for me. Like T day. ANd my book post takes me all month to write as I complete a part when I finish the book. But not a whole month in advance for me. Your calendar looks like it would work great. I usually only work a week in advance so I can see my posts on my web "post" page.

  11. Like Lowcarb above, I usually have a post or two in drafts and work on them as I go until they're ready to publish, but I also post things that come up suddenly or are otherwise timely. I do this mostly with 2 other blogs I currently write since this one's so new, but I assume it'll be the same with this one. Occasionally my creative well runs dry so I go a while with nothing to post.
