Happy Mail

What's this in a hermetically sealed cellophane wrap? It's a first day of issue envelope to celebrate the Year of the Ox, the next Chinese Zodiac animal in the Lunar New Year stamp series.

It's from Finnbadger of Envelope 100

Not only a first day cover, but also a lovely notecard. I don't know when the card was mailed since it was in cellophane there is no postmark. The card is dated 24. March. It would have been fun to know where and how far this card traveled before it reached me.

Thanks, Finn. It was a nice surprise and so good to hear from you.

  2. Seems I missed the Year of the Ox, which is strange, because I'm a big fan of Chinese New Year. Lucky you to get this wonderful first edition. I really LIKE the stamps.

    1. It was happy mail. Finn hasn't been blogging for awhile so I was a little worried about him. Guess he's just been busy

    2. The note cards were from the last year of the ox issue... 12 years ago.

  6. I looked it up on the USPS website and the issue of that stamp was last Feb. 2. in Chinatown, Chicago. This year’s issue was virtual, but Chicago is the official city of issue. It looks like a great collectible item!
