Whatcha Doin?

Vincent

and I, weeded and edged Ink's garden so

we could plant sunflowers. Himself started sunflower seeds in paper cups. The cups have a wax coating on them and won't biodegrade so I had to carefully remove the seedling from the cup to plant.

We still have the back side of the garden to clean up. It was hot, and Vincent was whining he wanted to go inside. He said he'd rather paint sunflowers than plant them.

Whatcha doin?

  1. Oh, lucky you with good weather, here it´s way too cold, sadly, so no balcony time...

  2. You had a beautiful sunny day to work in the garden. I did some this weekend, but my veggie garden really needs to get planted. Today does not look like a good day to do it. Stay dry, and thanks for these fun photos with Vincent. And happy June to you also. hugs-Erika

    1. Rain today and tomorrow. You might have better luck planting the garden over the weekend.

  3. You and Himself AND Vincent did yourselves proud! I've never had luck growing SunFlowers... They get a couple inches high and something would come along and eat them off.. We think it was a little ground squirrel.. I can't wait to see yours! LOVE SunFlowers.. Me? I just helped hubby pull up the plastic we covered the floor with in his shop for the spray foam insulation.. It looks so good! Now... coffee.. Hugs! deb

    1. The last time a sunflower grew, planted by a chipmunk 😉) when it bloomed the goldfinches ate the petals. Tea sounds like a good idea.

  4. Vincent looks hot! LOL (PS MY grandparents used to start their seeds in newspaper 'cups' they folded origami style, then they could just plop the whole thing into the garden. The newspaper is biodegradable and somehow good for the seedlings.....so they said. ;)

  6. Himself has given me a great idea. I need to find some cups. Guess I'll use plastic. I planted an entire package of sunflowers and something, either a squirrel or the two bunny rabbits that play in my yard, dug them up and ate them. All that is left are the shells. Thanks for sharing and giving me this idea.

    1. If you use a paper cup without a coating, you can just plant the whole thing in the ground. The paper cup will biodegrade. I know how you appreciate conservancy

    2. True, but I would have to buy paper cups and I already have these plastic ones I will probably never use for parties.

    1. There was a chipmunk and a little, red squirrel in the garden. I think the sunflowers may become a snack
