Our Niece is getting married later this month and a Bridal Shower was thrown for her. Guests were asked to bring a gluten-free recipe. K has Celiac disease so she can't eat foods with gluten (wheat, rye, barley, and triticale) I figured she knows what her triggers are and has recipes so of, course I went my own way.
I made a
Coptic stitch recipe card booklet. The book was made using mixed media paper measuring 3 in. x 5 in., about the size of a standard recipe card. The covers were cut from kitchen-themed, scrapbook paper, and I added a tea/coffee cup sticker. (My ticket for T Day)
The fun thing about binding single pages is you get to use different colored thread for each sewing station. When I asked what the Bride's favorite color is, I was told colors like a bruise (dark blue, purple) I had variegated thread in shades of blue, purple, green. Like a faded bruise 😺
My recipe was a quote On Marriage
It might have been a cheesy design, but I substituted a heart for all the O's. The writing was done with a Micron Pigma pen and color added using Towbow Dual Markers
...Love one another but
make no a bond of
Love.
Let it rather be a moving sea between the
shores of your souls
Fill each other's cup,
but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of
your bread but eat not
from the same loaf.
Sing and dance, but let
each one of you be alone
Even as the strings of
a lute are alone though
they quiver with the
same music...

That's a beautiful book for a bride and groom! And will last much longer than a conventional recipe.

That's clever what you made - and such beautiful handwriting. Just this morning I was reading out of The Prophet. I love his writings and hope to get more of his books or see if there is some pdf's online with his work.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful and lovely gift.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day!
I've been without electricity since about 6:30 pm yesterday. Never so glad to get my AC and internet back.
ReplyDeleteIt's been years and years (and years) since I've seen ending T's written like that. I used to write mine like that and don't even remember now why I stopped. I think this is beautiful and will be a great place to keep the recipe cards she receives. This turned out greet. Thanks for sharing this with us, along with the drink sticker for T this Tuesday, dear.
Oh, what a wonderful, wonderful pressie!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated T-Day, and thank you for the big smile!
Thank you all for your kind comments
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful present! Much nicer than a recipe. She probably has loads of those anyways. And if she hadn't, there is an internet full of them. This is much better. Good advice from auntie C (and some help from Kahlil).
ReplyDeleteHappy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Well done, that is a beautiful gift.
