How Does Your Garden Grow?

Ugly buglies on the squash plants. The bugs look like white stink bugs.

The heat and humidity

taking their toll

Finally morning glories where they are supposed to grow

Clematis

A bumblebee enjoying a pepper flower

A squash

One of the snowball bushes looking like the pride of Morticia's garden

A wish and green grass. Grass is always greener over the leach field

A lot of New England is in severe drought. The ash trees are stressed and dropping leaves a month before they usually turn and drop.

Strong thunderstorms rolled through and brought much needed rain.

But it wasn't needed in the sunroom

This bucket was joined by 4 other pots and pans. I think we need a bigger boat.

If the leak in the sunroom wasn't enough, yesterday morning as I was taking a shower, no water! I'm glad I had pretty much finished and hadn't washed my hair. Himself went downstairs to see if he could figure out the problem. He found the circuit breaker had been tripped. He reset it and it tripped again.

A call to the well company. Turns out two other households had the same issue. During the storm, there was a lightning strike that was very close. Quill and I were in the sunroom and we both jumped and ran into the house. Maybe the well got struck by lightning.

Fortunately, Himself has been emptying the water from the dehumidifier and putting it into empty kitty litter containers to water the garden. Not today, the water is being used to flush the toilet. The joys of country living.

  1. Still no rain but i daresay i'am having a better time of it than you! More rain predicted this coming week.. maybe we'll have better luck with this bunch.. Last week of predicted rain brought us a few drops.. Sunflowers are doing good.. I give them a little water now and then but i think they would be fine without me! Hugs! deb

  3. The joys of a well. I can relate. That rain last Friday (for us at least) was well needed. Not enough for the drought, especially the severe drought, but better than no rain. I can tell my flowers are looking perkier already. Have a wonderful Sunday. hugs-Erika

    1. It sure helped though it would help the garden more if it wasn’t dripping in the sunroom

    1. The drought really effected the bush. I hope it’s not totally dead.

  6. Oh dear, doesn't sound like much fun. We haven't had any rain here, but it's a bit cooler and that's great. Valerie

  8. My garden is as stressed as yours. My tomato plants are dying, and the trees are also shedding leaves due to lack of rain. We were supposed to get rain overnight, but it was more bluster and not much rain. Probably six to 12 drops that didn't even dampen the dust. At least you have color in your garden.

You poor thing. I went nearly two weeks carrying water to my toilet because it wouldn't flush. I hope things get fixed properly for you soon. At least you shouldn't have to buy any parts for your toilet like I did. Here's to a stress free week ahead for you, dear.

  10. We have been fortunate to have some rain so the garden is looking a little greener, however the trees are shedding leaves early!

    Take care.

    All the best Jan
