In November 2022, Maura Healy became the first woman elected as governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She is also the first gay person to be elected as governor. In 2014, Healey was also the first gay person to be elected as a state attorney general in the United States.
She is the state's 73rd governor and took the oath of office on January 5, 2023.
Together with Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, it's also the first time women hold both of the top jobs in state government. Both women are members of the Democratic Party.
On one hand this is great. On the other it is sad this has to be mentioned.
ReplyDeleteWe should just always respect each other...
So very true
DeleteI love this. And I do agree with Iris, that it is too bad it needs to mentioned. But we have to start someplace I guess. Hope you didn't get any snow yesterday. We had snow all day and maybe got 2 inches.
ReplyDeleteAn inch, but still an inch too much for me
DeleteSuper blog

DeleteCongratulations on her win.
ReplyDeleteTheir win 😉
DeleteAwesome. Why do they flaunt their orientation? It's not so fashionable with us yet :)
ReplyDeleteIt's not so much flaunting as showing its part of who they are. Gay people have been marginalized, discriminated against. I think this just shows they have arrived and are like everyone else
DeleteWe have Bill Lee :(
ReplyDeleteYou need to move to MA. Our politics are better. 😺
DeleteI might agree with Erika and Iris, but I think it needs to be told. This should be a PROUD PRIDE moment.
