In 1981, Babingtonite was designated the official state mineral. It's a rare mineral and Massachusetts is one of the few places in the world where it is found. The finest quality of crystal is found in Massachusetts out of all 50 of the United States.
Wow. Both, Ingo and my Brother would love to see and hold it for real! Sad my Dad isn´t there to see the pic, he would´ve loved that, too.
ReplyDeleteVery cool!!!
😺
DeleteI've never heard of babingtonite. But cool they found it in my home state. Happy Saturday. I hope we see some sun today. :)
ReplyDeleteNo sun today, but no snow either.
DeleteHow cool is that!? I queried Google and i'am told the Tx State Mineral is Blue Topaz... but is that a mineral... ? Anyway... cool to learn of yours.. Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteYes, Blue Topaz is a mineral and a semi-precious stone. TX got a real pretty one.
DeleteInteresting. Does it have a use?
ReplyDeleteWhat is it good for? Absolutely nothing other than to be rare and cool looking.
DeleteDig It - Pun Intended
ReplyDeleteCheers
Loved it!
DeleteIt is, if nothing else, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, I suppose so
DeleteI had never heard of it. I googled to see if there was any of it anywhere close to me. There's some in North Carolina, but nowhere near as much as in MA.
