Fun Facts About the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

 

In 1986, Massachusetts school children petitioned to have the Corn Muffin adopted as the state's official muffin.

  6. Well i Googled the Tx state muffin and got the Texas state pie... pecan...lol Funny the things they will make official... I bet i'd like a corn muffin as i like cornbread.. I like mine on the sweet side.. I have noticed people are definitely on two sides of the fence when it comes to cornbread.. sweet or not sweet.. which are you? Hugs! deb

    1. I suspect it was started here as ground cornmeal was such a New England staple. Cornbread was sometimes called Journey cake or Johnny cake because it was served to visitors at their destination after their journey.
