In August, my SIL's father passed away. Cleaning out his house she texted me and sent a picture.
"Found this treasure and thought of you. Would this piece have a home with you?"
The label reads: "Abbey" pattern by George Jones and Sons, England circa 1891 - 1900
I replied sure. A nice memory of her father whom we always chatted with at the Gatherings, and blue and white china, just my color. I'm sure I could find something to do with a poor, little cup missing its saucer.
Some time later while we were riding around doing errands a call came in from my SIL
"Are you home? I can drop off the..."
With the road noise it was hard to hear what she said. I told her we weren't home, but she could leave it on the table in the front porch.
While riding home I asked Himself, "Did she say she was dropping off a chamber pot?"
"I wasn't paying attention."
On the table inside the front porch a chamber pot was waiting. I burst out laughing.
Himself and I have finally arrived. We finally have a pot to piss in. Now, if we only had two nickels to rub together.

What a fun tea-cup, a sort of multi-function piece! Anyway, you have put the potty to good use. And if the facilities all break down, you now have an alternative. Happy pee day! Valerie
ReplyDeleteValerie, your comment cracked me up! I never thought of that and Happy Pee Day, too! 😺
DeleteI have a wicked mind! Glad it made you laugh!
Deletehahahahaha! In the first photo I thought it was a teacup, no idea of scale, but what a surprise to read it was a chamber pot, and an antique one at that! It looks good as a plant pot though! Happy T Day Elle/EOTC xx
ReplyDeleteThat was my problem when she texted the image. I had no idea about the scale! 😺
DeleteFun story haha beautiful too
ReplyDeleteHappy T wishes
It makes a nice planter.
DeleteWhat a really fun post CJ. I thought that was a mug. The handle definitely makes you think that. It looks wonderful with your plant in it, better than what it was made to hold. Smile. I hope you find 2 nickles next time you are out and about so you'll have more than just the pot to piss in. Smile. Have a super T day and enjoy this wonderful weather. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThis comment was hiding in spam. Very odd. Yes, I hope we find those two nickels, too
DeleteSo funny!
ReplyDeleteWe're still laughing
DeleteI thought this was hilarious and had to laugh because, like others mentioned, there was no scale available until you put the plant in it. Enjoy your HUGE tea cup or your new chamber pot, whichever you prefer. Thanks for sharing this fun post with us for T this Tuesday, CJ.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed this post. I'm still laughing
DeletePerfect for a plant. I love the colours too.
ReplyDeleteBlue and white is so classic

ReplyDeleteI just read your comment on my cookies. I only use REAL butter, never cheap margarine, or that slimy initiation butter. I'm a "real" person, like real whipping cream I have to whip myself, and real butter. Real cheese in hunks, too, not imitation cheese slices.
My camera uses real AA batteries and I use rechargeables. I had just put in fresh ones before I went to vote on Tuesday, so that wasn't a problem, either. I just can't figure out why it won't work outside, but works OK inside. Yes, I've checked all my settings and the book, too.
Hmm, a real mystery. I hope you solve your camera issue soon.
Deletelol!!! That'll make a fun story to re-tell. Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteI look at the pot and just laugh
DeleteHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA......🤣🤣🤣🤣
ReplyDeleteYou're just jealous! 😺
DeleteHA, what a fun post:):):) Love the vintage ware- yes, we have a chamber pot too - it's set in what looks from the outside like a regular tufted stool to sit on when closed. Everyone gets a kick out of it:) Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anything like that. How very prim and proper!
DeleteA beautiful tea cup! I love how you got creative and used it as a pot.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
😺
DeleteFunny story! Also a strange memento of a person you probably liked.
ReplyDeleteI wonder about your SIL.

Since I'm a good 10 years older than she is, I can leave it to her in my will! 😺
DeleteSuch a funny story, but I do like the blue and white colours.

ReplyDeleteA nice pot indeed.
One can always count on Himself 😺
DeleteYou gave me such a good laugh this morning! It might come in handy one day, who knows? I have an old enamel chamber pot that my mom took with her when they were fleeing the Soviet Army - it's a treasured possession because of its history.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been some story
DeleteI agree with the others a beautiful cup for the pot.
ReplyDelete😊
DeleteWell How Cool Is That - And My Grandfather Used To Mention Those Two Nickels Phrase All The Time - That And Dog Skin - Happy Wednesday My Friend

ReplyDeleteTypical of Himself 😺
