T Stands for 2OLOTR: 2 Old Ladies on The Road - York/Ogunquit, Maine

Teague belongs to a women's group and on Saturday, the group was holding a circle to celebrate the group's 15th anniversary (I think) and International Women's Day. I don't belong to the group, but Teague invited me to tag along. We went up a couple of days early to make a runaway weekend.

Anytime we are in York, we make a trip to Nubble Light. It was close to 50 oF. and with warm air over cold water, we were quickly socked in with fog.

There was also a high wind warning. I've been to the lighthouse many times, but never when there was stormy weather. The sea was roiling.

We had some time to kill before we could check in to the inn so we went to Ogunquit Beach and took a walk. By the time we got to the beach the temperature had dropped 20 degrees in about 20 minutes. The windchill made it feel wicked cold.

The Adirondack chairs look cold and lonely. During the Summer, these chair are always packed with people watching the ocean or removing sand from feet and shoes before ending the day at the beach.

From the parking area we saw this thing and thought it might be a beach chair. Turns out it was just a branch.

After the walk on the beach it was time to warm up. We stopped at a Dunkin' Donut shop. I had a medium size, Chai Tea Latte and a Boston Cream donut.

We were staying at the Beachemere Inn. This was the view from

our private balcony.

  1. Brr. It looks cold. The wind was crazy Friday. I was supposed to walk but didn't. Too bad it the weather wasn't that great for your trip, but you did get a change of scenery that had to be nice. Thanks for sharing. And have a super T day.

    1. It was very cold and windy. Friday I wanted to walk along the Marginal Way. There were gates at the edge of the property to enter/exit. It was so windy some of the lawn chairs were flying across the lawn. No walking that day!

    1. It was nice to walk along the beach. I found 3 pretty shells on different days. Water temps. too cold to dip your feet in at 38 oF. There were a couple of intrepid surfers, but they were wearing wet suits, hoods, gloves, and booties.

  5. Storms can be beautiful and exciting when they roil the ocean, but I prefer sunshine!

  8. I remember fog rolling in one evening in San Diego, but the weather was MUCH warmer than you experienced. Those beach chairs looked lonely and forlorn. The ones on your private balcony looked better.

Thanks for taking us with you on this trip and sharing your Dunkin chai tea latte and Boston cream donut with us for T this Tuesday, dear CJ.

    1. The chairs on the balcony were lonely, too. It was too cold to sit out there

  11. What a lovely inn to have the ladies' meeting (or whatever) and celebrate International Women's Day. A beach resort in winter is quite an experience. As you probably have read, I have just come home from one. It was also on the ocean (not Mediterranean) so very windy and cold. But not as cold as where you were.
    Happy T-Day,
    Lisca

    1. It was a lovely spot for the group's retreat. They have had several retreats here. It might have been very cold outside, but a warm and inviting group of women.
