The week began with a staring contest between the chipmunk
and the hawk
I thought this was going to be the Bleeding Hearts, but nope. The plant identifier app decided it's a Smooth Blue Aster.
The Mission Impossible squirrel leaped from the top of the wishing well
to the baffle on the bird feeder. He climbed the pole and pulled himself onto the bird feeder
He couldn't figure out how to get at the seed. There's a hole by the perch just large enough for a bird's beak. The squirrel jumped down to try again.
The hawk came back but no sign of the chipmunk
Out by the woods a lone daffodil. From the kitchen window it looks like a grave.
How does your garden grow?
Hihi on the squirrel ! I still wait for soil to plant flowers.
ReplyDeleteWhen you plant I hope you show pictures
Deletei'm glad the chipmunk didn't become the hawk's snack, or isn't that very likely?
ReplyDeleteChipmunks are hawk chow. I haven't seen the chipmunk so I don't know whether he's hiding or went home with the hawk
DeleteThose squirrels are just tenacious, aren't they? Your wishing well looks great, and I bet the chipmunk was hiding until the coast was really clear. I (at least the birds) let each other know when one spies a hawk. Hope you stay dry today. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWait until next week to see what the squirrel did. So far, it's just cloudy, windy, and chilly.
DeleteThis year i'am not nurturing the wild flowers so much... I do that then the yard gets so far ahead of me that i'm playing mowing catch up all Spring into Summer... So this year i'm staying on top of it.. Although it does hurt my heart some.. Although i did see my first Sunflower... and ofcourse its in the worst spot... lol AAahhh i remember our squirrels in Arkansas... :) Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteCan you plant some wildflowers in pots? The joy of the flowers without too much weeding?
DeleteDefinitely a thought...
Deletethinkin MAY bee...chippie was "invited " to dinner and squirrel best hope he's not next on the guest list !!! ☺☺☺♥
ReplyDeleteThe squirrel better hope I don't get my hands on him for what he did to the bird feeder. You'll see next week
DeleteGotta give the squirrel credit for persistence! LOL
ReplyDeleteHe does get an A for effort
DeleteSquirrels never give up, you can almost see it in their faces!!!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
So true
Deletethecontemplativecat here. We have bird feeder up high under patio cover. Squirrels see no joy in climbing up there, so they dart around for dropped seeds on the floor. They are happy campers.
ReplyDeleteWhen I fill the feeders, I usually throw a cup of seed on the ground for the ground feeders. This squirrel was just a greedy guts
DeleteThat is one determined squirrel.
