A bright spot in the mailbox to start the weekend. A First Day of Issue stamp for the Year of the Snake along with a matching note card from Finnbadger at Envelope 100. The stamp was issued from Boston, Massachusetts. Right in my front yard. How cool is that?
But here's a mystery. Finn sent the note with good wishes for the Year of the Snake. The notecard is dated 21. February 2025! So did this envelope take over a month and a half for USPS to deliver it? Finn, did you write the notecard and it got buried under a pile (I do that) so you just mailed it last week?
Either way, mailed early, late, or last week, I thank you for thinking of me. I really like this year's design.
So nice to see this one arrive looking good. I did write it in Feb, sent it in for the first day cancel that day or the next. Sometimes that service takes a while, and so worth it
ReplyDeleteI didn't know how first day worked. It arrived in pristine condition in a cellophane wrap backed with cardboard.
DeleteThey do a really nice job with the first day cancelations, it just takes a variable amount of time. The first couple of months of the year do tend to have a lot of new issues, so probably too be expected.
DeleteI never knew about 'first day of issue' cancelling. Interesting!
ReplyDeleteVery. I'll have to give it a try sometime
DeleteFirst issues are an interesting thing to collect. Over the years, a collection becomes quite valuable.
ReplyDeleteThat might be helpful the way the US economy is going right now
Deletewell...that's cool. Year of the snake. Nice surprise in your mail.
ReplyDeleteIndeed
Deletethecontemplativecat here. Year of the snake? I was born in the Year of the rabbit. I will have to check out that year.
ReplyDeleteYear of the Rabbit was issued in 2023
DeleteNice first day of issue stamp and card. As Jabblog said, value increases with time. Very collectable.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be nice?
DeleteNice, and even better that it was postmarked in Boston. :) Hope you had a good day!
ReplyDeleteYeah, cool with the Boston postmark. Was a dreary day but a good afternoon to play art
DeleteI didn't realize it had a Boston postmark - nice bonus
DeleteYay for surprise fun mail:)
