I finally got a picture of the elusive, male cardinal
A mourning dove hung out on Ink
Then decided to survey the Zensical garden from the bird bath
A young, female cardinal stops by in the evening. She feeds from the ground so I think she might be one of the babies from the nest.

With all the rain we've had everything is so green
Because of the work being done on the house some of the flowers got trampled. No Alpine Bells this year 😢
There has been no activity at the cardinal nest in over a week. The nest was so hidden we didn't get to see the babies fledge. Mrs. Cardinal would have moved to another nest to lay another clutch of eggs for the season.
A hummingbird has been coming by to check on the honeysuckle. Looks like he'll have lots of flowers.

Looks good. That poor squirrel must have had a shock not being able to get to the food. Here the birds eat peanuts all day, it's astonishing what these little critters get through. My flowers are doing well, too. Have a great Sunday, Valerie

i think we've finally gotten to the same point with the leaves. Hurrah Hurrah! It is so good to know you have to weed though, not that you may want to, but at least it is has warmed up enough for growth. Love seeing your green. Happy Sunday. Hugs-Erika
The male Cardinal is so beautiful. Lily of the Valley flowers have a nice fragrance. My flower beds need weeding too. Somehow blue Vinca vines (I think that's what it's called) got into my flower beds and spread to completely cover one of them. On the one hand, it looks pretty, but on the other hand, the bed was meant for other flowers. But I'm not much of a green thumb. Everything here in CT is very green from the rain, too. That's cool that you have dreams with stars featured in them. I don't think I've ever had one of those, unfortunately, since I've always been fascinated with celestial topics.

I wish we could use a squirrel baffle. Even if we could, though, we don't have enough room to get the feeders far enough from jumping-off points like roof and fencing lol
Cardinals are such a bright treat to watch :) We have purple violets but no other colors. I wish my honeysuckle would bloom!
If he tried hard enough, I think the squirrel could have made it through the hole in the baffle

Once the house is painted, I think I'll transplant the vinca. I'm not much of a green thumb, either.
They are very pretty. Too bad the lawn guy is due this week.

I was lucky I was sitting by the slider and had the phone with me to take the picture.
One of the squirrels last year tried jumping from the top of the trellis to the roof of the feeder. Once he stepped on the perch, his weight closed the hatch.
You know how much I love cardinals and this male is gorgeous.
Only one of my lilies of the valley bloomed this year. The rest had leaves, but nothing else. I may need to transplant mine.
Your grass is incredible. I'd hate to mow it because your yard looks as large as my home in MO. New construction always causes a few problems with plants and flowers. Hope that this is the end of the problem.
The property is slightly over one acre, but half that is wooded. Himself used to take care of the mowing. He liked the exercise, but with mobility issues, we now have a lawn service take care of it.

I'm amazed that the squirrel didn't get through - they are such cheeky critters, and seem to get everywhere you don't want them!
Our garden is growing well, Spring has certainly sprung in our part of the world.
