Aches and Pains

I don't know what I did. Playing Working at the computer too long, perhaps the chair, table height is not good. Maybe a delayed reaction to hauling the very heavy recliner from the sun room to the street. (I was hoping someone would take a free chair) and then dragging the extremely weighty recliner from the curb to the garage. (everyone probably saw The Big Bang Theory episode where Penny got a free chair that was left at the curb in front of her apartment building)

Though I'm small, maybe I'm not as mighty as I think. Or once was. Maybe I'm just at that age where you wake up and things just hurt. Who knows?

A friend gave Himself a sample of Arnica CBD salve. He swears by it. The friend, not Himself. I had taken some Ibuprofen in the hopes of better living through chemistry, but I wasn't finding much relief. I decided with some trepidation to give the salve a try. After all, what did I have to lose except the pain in my shoulder.

I opened the little container and cautiously took a sniff. If this smelled like Old Man salve I wasn't going to use it. There was a very, very faint wintergreen smell. Not bad at all.

I'm not going to claim it's a miracle salve, but my shoulder feels better. Maybe the Ibuprofen worked, or the heating pad I applied. Or maybe a good night's sleep.

What do you use for aches and pains?

  1. We mostly use ibuprofen ... heating pad... received a wonderful neck pad from daughter with herbs like lavender inside .. you moisten it and throw it in the microwave for a minute and a half and aaaahhh... kinda smells like a cup of tea..lol but the warmth is nice... Feel better soon CJ! Hugs! deb

    1. I also used a neck pad that goes in the micro, no moistening, but it has cloves in it so smells really nice.

  2. It depends on the pain....ice, heat, Ibuprofen, and when all that fails, COMFORT FOOD! My prefered are mac & cheese and Haagen Dazs! ;)

  5. I've come to swear by Epsom salts baths. It gives me an excuse for lounging in the tub if nothing else, but it does seem to ease this hip arthritis I've been diagnosed with. Or maybe it's the Yoga ;)

We're Big Bang Theory fans here, especially my husband, and I got a kick out of the reference to that episode. He'll be sorry to not get new episodes, but he has the series on DVD.

    1. Yeah, I don’t like baths so Epsom salt won’t work for me unless my feet are hurting.

  6. I take Ibuprofen for muscle ache type pains, and Tylenol for headaches. I might need to try that salve you used, because my left shoulder has gotten progressively worse with pain over the past few weeks. I haven't dragged anything heavy around recently, so it could be too much time at the computer with a table at the wrong height. But then why aren't both of my shoulders affected the same way? Anyway, I'm glad your shoulder feels better. Now I need to see if I can find that salve.

  10. Hope your shoulder is better. I'm surprised no one else mentioned CBD in their comments yet. Maybe because it isn't legal yet where they live. I take the oil for a couple of conditions: essential tremors, which are a disaster for an artist; and a painful inflammatory autoimmune condition. CBD controls the tremors 100%. It helps with the inflammation pain, so I can take less of the prescribed meds with scary side effects. CBD has no side effects. Search for "YouTube before and after woman with Parkinson's takes CBD." It's amazing.

I dropped by to tell you, yes, you are entered to win the paint by number kit. So far, you have two chances. 😊

  11. Take care of yourself CJ!!! I know even for the hours I work, my body is soar the next day. I use a cream called Kayala. It works well, but when I fell on my trip, the lady told me about Arnica! I'm going to have to get some! Big Hugs!
