How Does Your Garden Grow?

The Dollhouse is all spruced up with a coat of new paint. New gutters and downspouts will be installed in two weeks.

The mourning dove likes to spend part of his or maybe her afternoon sitting on top of the bird feeder.

A beautiful afternoon. I loved the contrast of the brilliant blue sky and the red Japanese maple tree

The monsoon Spring rains turned the meadow into a jungle. I'll have to see how much it will cost to rent goats to clear this area.

The first of the season's Garden kites flutters in the breeze

Somebody finally weeded the Zensical garden

I wonder how long it will take for the squirrels to knock over the stone towers?

When the honeysuckle vine blooms it's going to be magnificent.

The glass tube to the rain gauge broke. The replacement glass tube to the rain gauge broke. Himself had an empty, plastic pill bottle that's been repurposed. Not much rain this week unlike other areas across the country.

  2. It is looks so good CJ. I like the spruced up dollhouse look. And yup, I needed to do a bit of weeding too. But I am happy to be able to do that, finally. Enjoy this beautiful day. Hugs-Erika

    1. Not that I love weeding or gardening for that matter, but it was so nice to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Another great day today.

  3. I laughed at your goat idea. I may have to rent a couple myself. Every time I think I can mow, it rains. Speaking of mowing, I'd hate to mow your front yard with my hand (gas) mower and it would be even harder with a riding mower, I suspect. Your zensicle garden is looking good, though. Great save on the rain gauge, too. My honeysuckle has already bloomed, so I'm looking forward to seeing yours.

    1. Don't laugh. Goat rental for cleaning weedy areas is big business out here. For many years, Himself mowed the front and the back with his gas powered mower. Now he's glad to let the lawn guys take care of it.

  4. The pill bottle was a grand idea. We're currently getting your rain.
The garden looks lovely as always. Love The Dollhouse. We recently got new gutters and downspouts too. We also put plastic under the house. Not sexy but glad it's done:)

    1. Um, the ingenuity of using the pill bottle was all my idea. Himself just donated the bottle =^,.^=

  6. The house is looking good :) I know you'll feel proud to have it finished. Mourning doves seem to like settling in on top of the feeder. Maybe if I set up stones for the squirrels to play with they'll quit trying to get into the bird feeders. No? lol I didn't think so.

I loved the Japanese maple we had in one of the houses we lived in. They are gorgeous trees, and yours really stands out against that sky.

Plastic sounds like the way to go for that rain gauge. We don't measure our rain. These days I'm not sure we could find a gauge big enough. We're breaking records here!

    1. My parents had a Japanese maple in their yard. Dad found a sapling and brought it to us to plant 33 years ago. From a little twig to a giant tree.

Rainfall isn't the kind of records you want to break. Hope it dries out soon and moves out to sea!

  7. Your gardens look lovely. I've never seen my mourning doves sit on top of the bird feeder: I only ever see them on the ground below it. I like your husband's clever repurposing. The blue skies we've had this past week have been beautiful.

    1. Just this one mourning dove likes sitting on top of the bird feeder. And he stays there for a long time.

Himself gave me the pill container to put pencils or brushes in. I was the one who came up with the idea of using it as the rain gauge. :-D

    1. The color is called Denim about as close to Wedgewood Blue as it can get. It's the same color we chose last time.
