Travels with Hiroshige was an exhibit at the Worcester Art Museum of The Famous Views of the 60-Odd Provinces, a series of landscape prints by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858).
This print is my entry to the T Day Party
"In his portrayal of Mount Asama, Hiroshige depicts travelers pausing to enjoy teahouse refreshments and the spectacular view of Ise Bay..."
Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

ReplyDeleteThey look like paintings, but they are prints. Amazing.

Even better because I was in gallery all by my lone.
Delete:-D
I love these old Japanese prints. That's one form of art that I think I'd like to have to frame for a wall. This is a lovely selection. Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteThey really are quite nice
DeleteWOW Impressive prints! Thanks for the museum tour! (I like going to museums in my PJ's! LOL) ;)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could go to the museum in my PJs :-D
DeleteThose woodblock prints are out of this world, dear CJ. I enjoyed enlarging each to see and read about them. I like how you chose the one you found appropriate for T, too. The tea house is a staple in the monastery, and it is a great entry for T this Tuesday, too. Great way to think outside the box.
ReplyDeleteJust a change of pace from my usual T fare.
DeleteThank you for taking us to the Hiroshige exhibit, CJ. The paintings are lovely and serene.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day! EIleen xx
Very easy to get lost in the prints. So quiet, peaceful.
DeleteBoth beautiful and informative.
ReplyDeleteThanks to the museum curators.
DeleteBeautiful paintings. I've always loved Japanese art. The simpleness of it. Now I have a vase my cat broke and I'm trying to remember the name of when it is repaired ...I think using gold paint or something - ...I'm definitely going to look this up and fix it - three main pieces and one small piece - shouldn't be hard to glue together.
ReplyDeleteThe art form of repair broken pottery with gold is called Kintsugi. When I repaired cracks in my grandmother's tea cup, I used gold leaf. You can read about the process here:

Thank you for taking me to the exhibition. It's beautiful. I love the serene scenes and the beautiful colours, especially the colour blue. I have recently read a book called 'Blue' and is set in 18th century London (and France) about the most coveted colour blue and the porcelain industry. Fascinating. (written by Nancy Bilyeau).
ReplyDeleteHappy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
