Named in 1983, Dighton Rock became the official state explorer rock. The 11 ft. boulder once rested on the shore of the Taunton River. The rock is covered with mysterious petroglyphs. You can visit the rock at its own museum adjacent to Dighton Rock State Park.
I've heard about this rock as well as one off of (maybe) Martha's Vineyard. Perhaps the Vikings took a trip south (and most likely they might have gone south at least a ways) when they were in Newfoundland.. Stay cool! hugs-Erika
