Enders is known for their dahlias. I was surprised they were in bloom as I though they were an August flower and would have passed. At breakfast one of the deacons told us, they had a rare and very expensive black dahlia. After lunch, we went on a quest to look for it, but couldn't find it.
I chose a light blue and teal color combination to paint the acanthus leaves around the hummingbird. The color scheme was very beachy, and I received a lot of compliments on it. A two cowboy hat day.
Gunther, what a sweet name for a seagull! Ohhh, and the sunrise at the ocean - wonderfully captured. I like your style a lot.
ReplyDeleteSad you missed the black dahlia.
Buhuuuu. 266 days till summer... Am I thankful I´ll have summer in February/March.
The name Gunther comes from a character comedian Red Skelton created back in the 1950s, a seagull named Gunther and I think Gunther had a girlfriend named Gertrude. I will happily carry all your luggage if you take me with you to OZ. I speak a little bit of Strine also 😺
DeleteToo bad you didn't find the elusive black dahlia. Very rare indeed. Looks like you were enjoying your time there, at least. I like how you mixed the colors right on your page.
ReplyDeleteWe had a wonderful quest searching for the black dahlia.
DeleteMy dahlia's are still blooming, although these chilly nights will probably stop that soon. I like your journal page CJ. Too bad you never found the elusive black dahlia. That must have been a great quest however, and I bet you found lots of other interesting things.
ReplyDeleteThere were so many plots filled with dahlias. All shape, all sizes, no black 😺But it was fun to go look
DeleteI would love to see a black Dahlia, too! Valerie
ReplyDeleteMaybe another year
DeleteA two cowboy hat day for sure! (that phrase tickled my funny bone, thanks for the morning chuckle!)
ReplyDeleteGlad I can bring you some amusement 😺
DeleteThe Search for the Black Dahlia -I'm getting quite a vibe for a story there.
ReplyDeleteI am imagining that beach sunrise in my mind :)
And finding the elusive black dahlia just as the sunlight hits its petals
DeleteIt must be wonderful on Enders Island. I've now also looked at your previous posts, a fantastic place, your hummingbird is beautiful and the dahlias are magnificent. Love your journal page!
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Traude

Enders is such a beautiful place. So peaceful and the classes and people are just fantastic
DeleteI love drawing journals. I also loved your 'drenching rains'. Very expressive. Sounds like you're having (or had) a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteI had a great time. Wonderful class and instructor. Met old friends and made some new ones.
DeleteFun art! - Anne (Cornucopia)
ReplyDeleteIt's different drawing on the iPad, but so much more convenient than lugging a bunch of supplies
