Does your garden grow like The Breakers in Newport, Rhode Island? Described on the website as: Built by Cornelius Vanderbilt II, one of the richest men in America, The Breakers was everything a millionaire of the Gilded Age could want in a summer getaway. A classic Italian palazzo design, the finest American and European craftsmanship, views of the sea, and modern technology combined to make the ideal setting for luxurious living and entertaining.

Hey, Kid! You could do this in our yard. Triangles and a circle. Easy peasy!
Neighbors
How does your garden grow?
Those neighbors might be messy, but they probably won't ruin the formal gardens. That isn't a summer house to be, but it is interesting to see what people in another time and place thought summer homes should be-especially when their bank accounts seemed to go on forever. Enjoy this lovely day CJ.
ReplyDeleteLovely day outside at the grand-nephew's birthday party.
DeleteJust a summer 'cottage'....what's all the fuss?????? 😏
ReplyDeleteI could put up living there for 2 weeks during the Summer
DeleteNot what your showing but i did get to go to the Vanderbilt Estate as a kid in North Carolina . They had a school field trip there. My Garden is on its last legs... aka The SunFlowers ... I'm trying to get them to hold on long enough for the Monarch Butterflies but they don't come thru until around the beginning of October.. the SunFlowers may not make it.. Next year i hope to have them all along the fence line on the East side of the property... and hopefully they will just reseed themselves year after year... Have a beautiful day CJ! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteSunflowers along the fence sounds very pretty
DeleteI would love to be that rich that I could afford a home like that one. That is one amazing place. MY garden looks paltry compared to The Breakers.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Vanderbilts only lived in the Breakers for 2 weeks during the Summer!
DeleteI prefer a messier garden lol which is a good thing since there's no way I could afford such a gorgeous formal garden. What a lovely place to wander!
