T Stands for Brunch

Our last day with the Eldest and she wanted to take us out to brunch. She heard of the Iron Bridge Inn in Mercer, PA.

A carousel rocking horse. Not quite a rocking horse, Elizabeth, but it made me think of you.

Ceej, you gonna get the waffles?

I want prime rib

The brunch spread was amazing. Lots of people so I couldn't take pictures of the serving stations. The usual breakfast fare and prime rib, salads, and other lunch/dinner type stuff.

Too early in the morning (10:30 AM) for my first meal to be prime rib so I opted for the breakfast end of brunch. Scrambled eggs, bacon, Belgian waffles and strawberries, a a cinnamon cream cheese spread with a nice cuppa.

Soft drinks were served in Mason jar glasses.

Desserts galore, the fun part of brunch.

Fruit and quick breads.

To make room for a second trip around the brunch stations

Robin Hood pointed the way for the gents.

And an Alphonse Mucha ad for the ladies.

The Eldest had wanted another trip to Pittsburgh to visit the natural history museum. I didn't want to spend another 4 hours there and back again. Himself and I had a long road trip on Friday from South Carolina to Ohio. And we still had the long trip home.

We decided to try something closer to her home after brunch. Next week, a trip to Volan Mills.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  1. Man it is already hot. Nioe, full day of school. MY end of the building has AC but not the other side. I feel bad for them. A half dy sounds good to me. And your brunch looks like it was quite the meal. Lots of yummy food. My husband likes prime rib and eggs for breakfast on an occasion. Making me hungry. My breakfast shake isn't looking so good now, Stay cool. Hugs-Erika

  3. In our younger years we just loved a good brunch like this. Now days we don't eat as much food at one sitting any more-but this brought back good memories. we loved going to Port Edwards in Algonquin Illinois.
This looks like a great place too-loved the horse.
    Happy T

    1. We don't eat like this often, but it was a wonderful treat. Being on the go during the day meant we were good until dinner time.

  7. This looked like a fabulous brunch, even for us vegetarians. The food looked great and the desserts and bread, too. What a fun place this must be as a great treat while on vacation. I'm headed out of town myself today to eat a buffet, too. Thanks for sharing this experience with us for T this Tuesday and THANKS for the photo of the carousel horse, which I also collect!

    1. It was a lovely place. The restaurant seemed to have choices for every palate. And nice that the 4 of us could be together. Now that the girlies are grown those opportunities are few and far between. The carousel horse was a beautiful specimen. I just had to take a picture. Glad you like it.

    1. I didn't realize Elizabeth collected carousel horses, too. Just thought it would be the closest thing to a rocking horse.

  11. The brunch looks yummy! So many wonderful foods to choose from and I love the wall art!
Hubby and I are off to Pittsburgh this weekend for a holiday without the children. The Museum of Natural History is on my list of possible places to visit. We are also planning on visiting FallingWater as it is on the way. If there is enough to do, we may have to make another trip.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your trip next week.
    Happy Tea Day,

  15. That looks like a really nice place. And the food looks like I want to eat now! I don't think I'd have prime ribs either for brunch, but your plate looks inviting asnd so do all those cakes and desserts. I love those toilet doors. Very original. But I'm not too shure about the stuffed animals...
    Belated Happy T-Day,

    1. The stuffed animals were above eye level and were very well behaved so while eating, you didn't notice them
