How Does Your Garden Grow?

Not much change in the garden between last week and this, but there are some small changes

If you look very carefully, you can see the female cardinal in the honeysuckle vine. I've caught her visiting a couple of times a day. She sometimes has bits of grass or twigs in her beak, and I think she may be trying to build her nest in the vine. Other times, I've seen her tug at the vine and come away with a twig and fly off perhaps, just gathering material to build her nest elsewhere.

Here she is emerging from the vine.

And finally, near my neighbor's driveway. A robin, the first sign of Spring! Taken from the livingroom window, that little speck is the robin.

And inside, Concordia, the peace lily, is working on a flower.

How does your garden grow?

  1. Yup, sure signs of spring alright. We have so many robin's in my area pretty much all the time.

    1. I saw a herd of robins while on an outing near Boston and was sad I had not see any robins in my backyard. So I was very happy to see a robin in my neighbor's yard. Spring is finally here!

  5. Cardinals nesting where you can get photos sounds like a real delight! We have them come get food and carry it off, so I know they're nesting nearby but not where I can see. Still sweet :)

We're having more rain. And yet more and more rain. I've planted some seeds for butterflies and hope the rains will help them grow. My peace lilies are happy outside but aren't blooming. We have robins year 'round, but we still call out "first robin of Spring" this time of year ;)

  6. I love robins, they are such a lovely bird.
Concordia, the peace lily looks very healthy, I'm not too good with indoor plants!

    Happy Sunday.

    All the best Jan

    1. I don't have a green thumb. The Eldest's original peace lily is still going. She couldn't take the plant when she moved. Concordia was one of 4 transplants. I gave 3 away. The Eldest told me peace lily was very easy to take care of. They don't like a lot of direct light. They don't need a lot of water. When their leaves droop and the plant looks sad, water. Pretty low maintenance which is good for me and I haven't killed them yet

  7. Oh, won't that be fun to watch, if she builds her nest in the vine?

    1. I just hope she won't feel threatened with us going in and out of the sun room.

  8. I somehow missed this. Your yard is looking like mine but I will say we had a huge amount of melt this past weekend. It felt good to be outside and enjoy the sun. Stay dry today. Hugs-Erika
