T Stands for Visit to the Cemetery and Breakfast at the Cracker Barrel

 Another back to front story

A big breakfast. I think this was called the Sunrise Sampler. I forget. What I really wanted was in bowl in the lower left corner. Grits. I love grits. There was also biscuits and gravy, 2 scrambled eggs, plain hash brown potatoes (no yucky cheese added to them), fried apples, and bacon, ham, and sausage. I ate the grits, the apples, and the biscuits and gravy and took the rest home for dinner.

This week I remembered to take a picture of my tea. Himself had a Coke.

Browsing in the gift shop while waiting for our table. I was tempted to buy the cardinal mug.

Cracker Barrel, our usual destination after the visit.

This restaurant used to be Michael's Pasta in the Pan, but no longer. There's a new restaurant called the Hangar Pub. Too bad Michael's closed as the food was good and reasonably priced. I don't know if the restaurant went out of business due to the pandemic or if the owner decided to close this location. There was another location a few towns over. Maybe he retired.

There was some wild weather the night before. Lots of branches and leaves down. Six Flags Amusement Park had to close the day before because of flooding. The park was still closed this day due to flooding and cleanup

A new neighbor is moving in.

Okay, this looks like I'm greeting Dad first even though his bona fides are on the front of the stone.

The first one to be greeted had to be Ma. She would be put out if she was greeted second. She was funny like that. So I brought her flowers and greeted her first. We made our visit on 30. June. A visit for my parents' wedding anniversary. They were married on the Fourth of July and would have been married 78 years.

It wasn't until I looked at the photos that I noticed there was a sunflower in the bouquet. The Young One's favorite flower is the sunflower. Ma would have liked that.

  1. I’ve never had grits but I love American hash brown, very different from thee blush variety, we used to go to Denny’s for breakfast but sadly they aren’t so good the last time we went
Gorgeous flowers for your Ma, my parents and grandparents are in a family grave, I like to think mum is back with her beloved parents.

  6. I'll leave the grits for you, but I do like a big Cracker Barrel breakfast :) The cemetery looks like it made for a peaceful visit. That sunflower is a stand-out!

    1. Fortunately for our visit, the amusement park was closed fo cleanup after the storm. Otherwise, the peacefulness is broken by the screams of people riding a giant tower drop ride. The top of the tower can be seen from the cemetery

  7. I need to do a cemetery visit. My dad and his family are at the New Swedish cemetery. My mom's family is up in Paxton. Maybe my next visit on my next visit to mom. And wow. I have never had a Cracker Barrel breakfast but it is very big. I would probably skip the grits, but my husband spent part of his childhood in Georgia so when we moved back up north that was his nickname. The rest of your breakfast sounds yummy though. We lost the sun a few minutes ago and I hope it comes back. How is your day? Hope its a nice T day.

    1. I ordered the hashbrowns plain, without the yucky cheese. You are welcome to the hashbrown casserole which has cheese in it. Cheese to me is like burds to the Tabbies 😺

  10. Your breakfast plate looks like the entire buffet served to just one person. I'd be happy to choose one or two items, myself. I've only been to a Cracker Barrel once or twice when it was next door to a motel where we happened to stay. Otherwise, I don't seek it out.

  12. I love Cracker Barrel! I usually get the country fried breakfast (chicken) and get the yucky cheese hasbrowns - LOL! We haven't been in awhile and need to go. I love the cardinal mug. Lovely bouquet on your mother's grave. I always visit mine first too. Happy T-day, CJ!

  14. You can have my grits. I'm not a fan. I have a friend who served it every time I joined him for breakfast. I had to eat it, and I still don't like grits. Your biscuits and gravy look good, and I know Sally would love the eggs you chose, too. I'm a fan of sunny side up. Nice to see the tea this week, dear. I bet it was good. and that cardinal mug caught my eye, too.

Loved the flowers you left your mother. I noticed the sunflower before I saw your mention of it. Thanks for taking us to the cemetery and Cracker Barrel for breakfast and your tea you shared with us for T this Tuesday.

You asked about the water I used to place the mint in. Sorry I confused you. The water is so the mint will root. You change the water every few days so it doesn't get stagnant. You do NOT drink the water. You use it to root the mint. After your mint has rooted, you can pot the mint in soil and watch it grow. when you have enough leaves, you cut them off and crush them in your hand. You place them in a strainer and pour boiling water over them.

  15. I have never been a fan of grits, but our son in law loves them. He was the first person I knew that liked grits. I like hash browns, but not at Cracker Barrel. Looks like a great breakfast, though. We just ate at Cracker Barrel a couple of weeks back. Thanks for sharing. Happy T Day.
