Whatcha Doin?

Today is the Young One's birthday so I'm planning. I had asked her if there were any special foods or treats she would like for her celebration. She thought she would like a Key Lime Pie, some chocolate dipped pineapple, to go out for a lobster roll, and some bubble tea from Kung Fu tea.

I'm a planner so there's always a plan B. I picked up some pineapple chunks, but couldn't find the chocolate to dip fruit in. So I grabbed a jar of Nutella. Everybody and his brother must have bought all the Key Lime pies so I picked up a Lemon Meringue instead. Just in case I can't find a Key Lime pie at another store.

Another part of plan B is the Young One is plagued with stomach issues. Some days she can eat food and enjoy it and other days her stomach is in knots. Just in case she doesn't feel like eating or drinking anything, Luigi's Italian Ice fits the bill. Especially when the weather is hot and humid.

So we may not be going out for lobster roll or bubble tea, but the beauty of plan B is being able to roll with the punches. As Scarlett O'Hara said:

  1. My daughter loves Key Lime Pie too. Always wants it for her birthday. And she has stomach issues at times too. With her, I think it is nerves and maybe some lactose issues. Not sure. I hope you daughter has great birthday, you find a key lime pie, and she gets her lobster roll. If not today, then tomorrow. Enjoy!

  2. I commiserate with the young one! Having a 'snowflake' tummy is a royal PITA!!!! (Which is why we instituted 'Birth Week'....at least one or two of the days might be good ones! LOL)

  4. I need some Lemon Meringue pie. I've never heard of chocolate dipped pineapple. Sounds tasty.

    1. Himself bought some around Mother’s Day. It’s not a combination that you would think would go together. It was delicious and a lot better than pineapple on pizza 🤢

  7. If you have a Baskin Robbins, they have a fudge dip. You heat it and pour it over the well dried (patted down with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture) pineapple. It cools in seconds and is the same as the stuff on the outside of some ice cream bars. You can dip it several times if you want thicker chocolate. They also sell hot fudge, too.

Happy birthday to the birthday girl. I sincerely hope she had a good tummy issue free day. I am also a BIG fan of key lime pie.

  8. Happy, happy Birthday!
Yow, you still have bubble tea-shops? Here we had soooo many and they all vanished. Not one left (I never treid this anyway).
    Nutella, uhhhh ;-)
Great you plan and I hope you have a great day. Here... nothing. Shit#y weather, just doing my training. It´s sad.

    1. Kung Fu Tea is a chain. The Young One was introduced when she went to Ohio to visit her friend. There's one in the town where I grew up so we were hoping to visit. It's the only place that I know of that sells bubble tea. A Chinese restaurant we used to go to had bubble teas, but the restaurant closed down before the pandemic. Sad, they had good food, too.
