T Stands for the Teaching Assistant Brunch

With the last chem lab completed, Himself invited his 3 teaching assistants (one for each lab section) to brunch as a thank you for their hard work. I got to tag along. Himself chose The Flying Rhino Cafe and Waterhole on Shrewsbury St. in Worcester.

There were lots of choices and on the back of the menu which I forgot to photograph there was a selection of appetizers.

I started with a Mimosa (orange juice and Prosecco). Himself had a Coke.

There were chicken fingers with a Buffalo Rub which the waiter said weren't very spicy. He lied. 😺

We also ordered Crab Rangoons

I ordered Stuffed French Toast with Mixed Berry Cream cheese. It wasn't plated as I thought it would be. I thought the cream cheese would be between two slices of thick bread which would be dipped in egg batter and fried and not on top of the French toast. It's plating might not have been very pretty, but it tasted delicious.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth’s blog to find out what the rest of the T gang is up to. If you want to play, include a beverage or beverage container in your post. Don’t forget to link your blog from Bleubeard and Elizabeth’s page.

  1. Everyone's opinion of spicy is different isn't it? I know my hubby doesn't agree on something I say isn't really spicy:) I'd love those crab Rangoons.
Happy T day, and a Merry Christmas too!

    1. Anything beyond salt, a hint of pepper, basil, and oregano is spicy to me. 😺

  6. Sometimes the WORST looking food tastes the BEST! {My parents were right, don't judge a book by it's cover!} ;)

  7. I haven't heard of this restaurant, but the food does look yummy. I agree with you about the French toast plating, but as long as it tastes good, that is what counts. My daughter wants French toast with strawberries and nutella for Christmas breakfast. I was surprised my husband said that sounded good as he's usually not one for sweeter breakfasts. And I am glad to hear we are not the only ones who still do stockings. Will Calli and Quill have stockings? Happy T day. Much warmer than yesterday for certain. Now if only the rest of winter was as nice as today is. Smile.

    1. Your daughter's choice sounds like a great Christmas morning breakfast. We still do stockings. I even got a new stocking for the Eldest. I didn't want her to worry about trying to find room to pack the stocking my mother made for her or to take the chance and mail it. Yes, Calli and Quill have stockings just like Ink and Mitty did

  8. Definitely not well plated! I also would have thought the cream cheese would be in the middle.

  9. I enjoyed your choices of appetizers except I don;'t do spicy at all. The crab Rangoon looks good, and so does your brunch choice. Nice to see the mimosa, but I'll join your husband and order a diet Coke, please. Thanks for taking us with you to the Flying Rhino and sharing your meal and drinks with us for T this Tuesday, dear CJ.

  10. I just saw your comment about DeJoy. I was whining to Kathy about the maniacal postmaster who destroyed so much of the needed postal equipment, so thought your comment was spot on.

    1. It's what happens when you hire someone to run a service and they have no experience whatsoever.

  11. What a nice gesture of your husband to treat his TAs. I'm sure they appreciated it.
The food looks good. I have no idea what stuffed French toast should look like, but as you say: as long as it tastes good.
    Greetings from sunny Spain,
Merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy 2022 to you and yours.

  14. All looks so fabulous! Yum! The drink looks good too. How fun to get to be a part of the special thank you and how sweet he did that too - I am guessing most professors do not. Thanks for sharing this, CJ. Merry Christmas and many hugz to you. Thanks for the inspiration and parts of your life you have shred this year. You are a blessing to me.

    1. Most professors don't. Too bad because it's a great way to get to know these young people outside of the classroom/lab And thank you for the last comment. That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me.

  16. I do like some spice, but not too spicey - more like a "kick". The crab rangoons look delicious and I'm always up for a mimosa.
