In yesterday's Friday Five Good Things, I mentioned I had participated in a virtual sound bath. (Virtual as the facilitator performed the sound bath in a Zoom meeting) Lots of readers were wondering what I was talking about.
The sounds are played on crystal bowls. Similar to running a wet finger around a wine glass but the practitioner uses a mallet. Each bowl corresponds to one of the seven Chakra points in the body. These are energy centers in the body. The tones are used in meditation and healing.
Sound Healing with Crystal Bowls
Is there an immediately noticeable effect or is it cumulative? Off to go down that rabbit hole now.
ReplyDeleteIt will depend on how in tune you are with your body to see how the tones effect you.
DeleteI've seen them offered here occasionally. Maybe I'll try one on YouTube. Thx! (Nita)
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting experience
DeleteInteresting.
ReplyDeleteIt's very relaxing
DeleteDo some people not find it calming? I felt more anxiety and jarring... did not expect that.. Thank you for showing us a Sound Bath! Now i know :) Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteIt's very possible. The bowls are supposed to be tuned to the frequencies of the human body. It's also possible the way the practitioner plays effects things, too
DeleteOh, I fear I am too hectic for this. My BIL gave me a book on meditation...I just cannot relax enough. But it sounds good!

I had heard about it, but didn't really know what it was about
DeleteI'd not come across this before, many thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
You're welcome
DeleteAh ha. I have heard of this now that you mention it. I hope you're not due to get a lot of snow. Early in the week they said a couple of inches and now they say it might be as much as 8. Oh boy.
ReplyDeleteThe forecast this morning was for a wide 6 - 10 inches. The higher elevations may get a foot. That might be my town at an elevation of 705 ft.
