The Keurig coffee machine is a love or hate thing. Like coconut. Either you love it or hate it. Since Himself and I don't drink coffee, and I've been told I make horrendous coffee, I find the set up convenient.
I had mentioned the Eldest left behind her gargantuan Keurig machine when she moved. It took up so much space on the counter and the water reservoir was hard to clean. I was so happy after Christmas when I saw an ad for the Keurig mini. It's only 5 inches in width. So I ran out and picked one up at Target. The old machine has been donated to charity where I'm sure someone will gladly appreciate it and get lots of use out of it.
I like having the Keurig pods on hand when coffee drinkers come to visit. Easy enough to run out and pick up a pack of pods for company, and left over pods can go home with them or mailed to the Eldest.
I've been using it to brew my tea. too. No, I don't bother buying the tea pods. I just put a tea bag in the cup, fill the water reservoir, and presto Earl Grey Hot or whatever tea blend I fancy. I used to nuke a cup of water in the microwave, but it always left foam in the tea. No foam with the Keurig.

Kooks good. I also have a pod machine, from Nespresso. As I mostly just make coffee for me, it's quicker than a traditional machine. And the pods come in the metal/plastic recycling bins we have from the garbage removal place, so that's good, too. Happy T Day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad the Keurig pods aren't recycle
DeleteHave a look at my blog! Valerie
DeleteThats really cool that you can put a tea bag in the machine like that. I usually just run plain hot water from it into my mug at work for tea.
ReplyDeleteNo, the teabag doesn't go into the machine. I put the teabag in the cup and run the water through the machine to heat.
DeleteI enjoyed reading your post, and chuckled a bit too. I also like that cat mug: that certainly sums up their attitude. :-) Happy T-Day.
ReplyDeleteThe cat mug was my Christmas gift from the Young One. She knows me well :-D
DeleteYour new coffee machine is sooo cute. I couldn't get into all that waste with those little cups-but using a tea bag-wow that is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteHappy T hugs Kathy
I like having the machine for people who enjoy a cup of coffee. It's too bad the manufacturers of the pods don't use recyclable materials or make it easy to recycle the pods.
DeleteThis looks interesting and sounds like a neater machine than your last one. We use a caffetair still so any machine would be a step up
ReplyDeleteHave a great T Day
Love Chrissie xx
The Eldest had a machine like they use in an office. It just took up the entire counter and I don't have much counter space in the dollhouse
DeleteIt looks a neat small coffee machine, good to have in the house for when coffee drinkers call in. I liked the fun cup you were using as well.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
It's very convenient. I love my mugs, too.
DeleteThe mini-Keurig seems the perfect solution to a host of problems, CJ. When tea or coffee drinkers show up at our house, they get instant because neither hubby nor I can make a decent cuppa.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
:-D That's my problem with making coffee so the Keurig works out well.
DeleteI like the size of this Keurig and once our old one cup coffee maker dies I'll probably get one like this too. Love that Grinch mug:) Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteThe size is nice and also comes in black. Brews one cup at a time.
DeleteI am an avid coffee drinker ;) and my coffee maker has a Keurig type coffee maker attached to the side. There are times I use it, when all I want is one cup. Yours is a cute little thing, and a great space saver.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day
If we were coffee drinkers, I would have opted for a mega size. But as I'm the only one that drinks tea, this little machine is perfect.
DeleteLook good to me! I don't drink coffee so can't make a decent cup either so this would be useful ...lol 😉. It looks very streamline too! Enjoy and wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteIt's the perfect size and came in real handy when the Brother and his family came over. Everyone got their perfect cup of coffee, and I didn't hear any complaints.
DeleteI've never seen these mini-machines. I have a single cup pour-over I use, but I think it'd be fun to try all the different flavors that come in the pods. I love that the machines come in colors. I've heard you can re-use the pods. Do you know if that works? Happy T Tuesday :)
ReplyDeleteThe mini machine is new. I don't think the pods can be reused. There is an accessory called My K Cup which allows you to use your own ground coffee brand instead of buying the K cups.
DeleteAh, that My K Cup thing is probably what I heard about. Thx!
DeleteWhat an adorable little Kerig. I love that color and the fact that it is tiny. Hubby uses a Kerig but I don't.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your Grinch mug.
Happy Tea DAy,
Kate
I would have preferred a dark blue, but this mini only came in aqua and black. Come over for tea and you can use the Grinch mug.
DeleteHusband uses the My K-cup. But when I use the regular ones I just put the empty cup in the recycle bin. Am I not supposed to recycle them? :-/
ReplyDeleteFrom Keurig: Yes, but only if you separate the pod components. “K-Cup® pods consist of a combination of plastic, aluminum, organic material (coffee grounds) and a paper filter. While all said items can be easily recycled separately, the K-Cup® pod as a whole cannot be recycled. *” The components need to be separated and sorted into the correct categories for recycling or composting.
DeleteOh....I drink the Cafe Mocha...no filter or actual grounds. Just the plastic cup with the foil top.
DeleteWhat a cute little machine. I love the colour (I know you would have preferred blue, but I love the aqua)
ReplyDeleteI have a Senseo which uses pads. I'm not a coffee drinker so mine gets used for visitors. I only like cappuccino choco, which tastes like a hot chocolate. Those pads have something plastic in them and I don't know if I can recycle them...
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Keurig cups have to be taken apart. Can you easily open up the pads after use?
DeleteIt looks good, and I like your mug.
ReplyDelete… just a kettle and hot water for us :)
All the best Jan
Someone is known to leave the stove on so this is a lot safer as the machine shuts off if it detects no brew cycle after 90 seconds. I don't have to worry anymore.
DeleteThat's the smallest Keurig I have ever seen, but it sounds like a really good solution. We don't make coffee in our house either, but it is an issue when we have coffee drinking company. So I get it! nice find and nice idea. happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWhen my Parents and the Brother and gang came over for family events, The Brother used to stop at the Dunkin' Donuts on the way and pick up a Jug of Joe. Dad loved to take the leftover coffee home. But with only 2 or 3 coffee drinkers, we only need a cup or two.
DeleteMy sincere apologies for not visiting sooner, but my electricity went out about 4ish this morning. It is finally back on and I keep getting interrupted while trying to play catch-up.
ReplyDeleteI have a hate/hate relationship with Keurig. Sally gave me her old one that sounds the same size as the one the eldest left you. I had no place to put it that was convenient, it needed a three prong outlet, it didn't fit under my cabinet, it took up so much vital space, and it only made four cups to a pod. Each pod is different depending on the machine you purchase. Like you, I sent mine to Goodwill, because I couldn't find a place for it. I DID keep the 60 pods of French Roast Sally gave me, since her pods were a different size. I cut the tops off, used three to a pot, and am still using my beloved machine. I'm glad you found one you like. BTW, that Grinch is adorable. Thanks for allowing me to rant, and thanks for joining us for T with your new Keurig this Tuesday. Again, sorry I'm so late visiting.
Glad your electricity is up and running. I suppose like anything else there are good and bad to the machines.
DeleteI like the size - that would be nice on my counter and i don't know why we haven't bought a one cup thing like that with the pods. Maybe in 2019 - ...gotta try it.
ReplyDeleteI got it at Target for $79
DeleteOoh, I love that mini-Keurig!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it cute?
DeleteI have never heard of a Keurig but we do have a pod machine that we use intermittently as the pods are sometimes quite expensive and we wait until we see them on offer!! Belated Happy T day!Chrisx
ReplyDeleteThere are other pod machines but Keurig is the most popular here. Yup, pods are expensive, but I suppose that's the swap off for convenience.
DeleteI don't have the fancy coffee maker, but always use it at the doctor's office, and they even had one at the bank last week, and they have one to use for free at our Bed
ReplyDeleteBath & Beyond. But mostly I drink tea and I use an electric tea kettle, that heats the water. I drink a lot of tea, in fact drinking it right now! Happy belated T Day!
I drink 4 to 6 cups of tea a day. I need something with an auto-shut off as I've been known to leave the stove/oven on. The microwave and the Keurig both take care of that for me.
DeleteWhat a fantastic idea!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I think that mini-Keurig is so cute! I love it!
