Head's Up
On January 27, 2019, first class postage rates in the U.S. increased from 50 cents per ounce to 55 cents per ounce. Hopefully, you stocked up on Forever stamps before the rate increase.
that was really a huge jump in price too-they usually go up just a penny or two. I bought extra around christmas time and then friday I ordered more scooby doo stamps and the popsicle ones
I didn't buy any forever stamps for the U.S., but I bought a HUGE number (4 sheets) of Intl stamps. I saw the poinsettias on someone's blog and bought all they had, which wasn't many. I was happy to get what I could, though, since I send more Intl gifts than U.S. gifts.
The prices for postage are soaring here, too. No wonder people don't send so many letters! Have a great week, Valerie
ReplyDeleteNot sending cards and letters might have more to do with the cost of greeting cards and stationery.
DeleteI think the PO is putting themselves out of business. After awhile it is going to be too expensive to mail anything. Happy new week.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the increase will stop the tons of junk mail that pours in
DeleteWoooooo Nice
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteIf it stops the junk mail I'm all for the increase!
ReplyDelete:-D
DeleteYup, I bought two books of stamps just the other day. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDo people still buy stamps? A book lasts me until Xmas card season every year.
ReplyDeleteThose of us that play with mail art or envelope and card exchanges still need to buy stamps.
DeleteNo, I didn't stock up, and we're running low. That balloon is the perfect illustration of up, up, up!
ReplyDeleteTruthfully, compared to postage in other countries, the USA is still inexpensive.

ReplyDeleteI think it was because people were upset they were going up a penny or two every year. So they did the price jump in one swell foop
DeleteI bought some flags. I also ordered a few stamps from USPS.com as my post office didn't have any older stamps to use on my Graceful Envelope entry.
DeleteI actually did buy a few more than I need. I rarely mail anything anymore. I kind of miss letters coming in the mail - or mailing out letters.
ReplyDeleteNow that you have extra stamps, you could mail cards to people just because. =^,.^=
DeleteSame with us!!!! Not good!!
ReplyDeleteWell, a letter is still cheaper than an airline ticket
DeleteLOL! Smarty pants! LOL!

ReplyDeletei went to the PO to looks for a few specific stamps, but they didn't have any more. I ordered what I needed online before the price hike.
DeletePostage prices seem to go up, and up.
ReplyDeleteI don't think folks use the mail as much these days!
I love the image you used for this post, the balloon is so colourful.
All the best Jan
Since folks don't send as many cards or letters, it's probably why the postage goes up and up.
