Procreate Lettering Project

Nan has been trying to get me to do some artwork using the iPad and the Procreate app. There are several digital workshops in Workshop Week. For the first foray, I chose Beginner-Friendly Procreate Lettering Project with Jillian and Jordan of Loveleigh Loops.

The instructions were to import the quote "community over competition" into the Procreate app. Instructions were given to trace over the quote and to select a yellow and complementary blue to add color to the quote, and then to create a drop shadow. I was fine up to that point.

The second part of the exercise was to import a provided photo with a blank iPad on a blanket. No problem. Then resize the photo so that the quote was in the middle of the iPad. Somewhere along the line my quote tilted at an angle and I couldn't get the quote to align straight. Oh well. Wabi Sabi. Not bad for my first attempt. I need to rewatch the video to see where I went wrong.

  5. well Procreate sounds involved but I bet it is fun. I like what you did. Do you have to use a special tool for the lettering.

    1. Brushes and other painting writing tools are part of Procreate. You can make your own brushes and people sell them. You pick a brush to use. You can just use your finger, but most people use an Apple pencil to simulate painting/drawing with a real brush or pencil
