How Does Your Garden Grow?

The little, red squirrel has figured out how to distribute his weight so he doesn't close the hatch to the bird feeder.

Every bunny was kung fu fighting. This is the bunny that won.

You can see the bunny through the rain gauge. S/he lost the bout.

It is alive! Himself fixed the post lantern. As he suspected, it was a faulty outlet.

A herd of buttercups

I pruned the hydrangea bush and now Dido can welcome guests.

The tulips have been replaced with iris.

The mountain laurel blooms despite a blight on its leaves.

I transplanted the clover from out front. Some of it seems to have taken as there are a couple of flowers.

I planted a few scraggly morning glories in the lantern planter along with some variegated green leaf things that grow to the left of the front steps. They weren't looking too good.

Himself's tomato plant has a few flowers.

  2. good morning, I love wildlife entertainment lol they are all so clever in their own ways. we had a deer by the feeder last night-we don't see they much during the summer time.

enjoy the tour of your garden-hugs Kathy

    1. I know we have deer, but I rarely get to see them. I hope the buttercups come back as the lawn guy mowed them over.

    2. oh no that\s sad you think he would have asked first-sorry--we hired some friends to help us mow around the house-and they wacked off my milkweed plant that has been coming back for years-it even had stakes around it-sigh

    3. Well, they were in the middle of the lawn. So I can't blame the lawn dude. And so the milkweeds don't get whacked this year, I put a garden border fence to make it obvious.

  3. Smart squirrel! ha ha ha ... what a litte smart-a**, eh?

Great pics of your garden. My grandmother used to have these little purple and yellow flowers which grew around her house. She used to call them jumping jacks?

    1. Yeah, they are little smart ( ! )es. Those purple and yellow flowers are violas. Like little pansies. I know them as Johnny Jump Ups

    2. OMG, you are right! I meant to say Johnny Jump Ups, NOT jumping jacks! It has been a long time since I actually saw one of these since then. Boy, is my face three shades of red ... ha ha ha !

    3. No worries. Flowers have different names depending on where you live. Those voilas could very well be called Jumping Jacks

  4. ... I could be wrong, but the jumping jacks look a lot like what replaced your tulips except for the color on yours looks either a lighter color purple or a dark reddish color? ;)

    1. I always thought they were some sort of iris. They are yellow and purple though the purple with the yellow looks brown as purple and yellow are opposites on the color wheel. Thought they must have been planted by the first owners of the house as they've always been here since we moved in 32 years ago

  5. Please tell me the little bunny that lost didn't go the way of the faulty outlet. At least I know the answer to the cliff hanger from Friday.

Those are definitely irises in my world, too.

    1. the little bunny was fine. Just wasn't allowed to eat the grass in front of Ink's garden while the bigger bunny was there.

  6. Your garden is looking good. That squirrel is a clever one. Glad to see the lantern shining, it looks pretty. My balcony flowers all got beaten down by the storm and gallstones. Hugs, Valerie
