The Friday Five Good Things

ICAD 2015
Five good things that happened this week.

1. June 1st began Meteorological Summer!

2. Made plans about visiting The Eldest in Pennsylvania for her birthday week.

3. Some lawn goodies arrived for the Zensical garden.

4. The stylist I like was on duty but was leaving early afternoon. I was able to run over and  got my hair cut

5. My friend/teacher/mentor won Best in Show for the 2018 Graceful Envelope Contest

How was your week?

  1. What a GREAT week for you. How nice your friend won best in show.

I want to know where you get your hair done. Although I want long bangs, I want my hair as short as yours seems to be. I remember it was a chain, but can't remember if there's one in Wichita.

    1. I go to a chain called Great Clips. $16 for a no frills haircut. No shampoo, no mousse, goop, or styling. You can't make an appointment with a stylist and they won't give you the schedule of a stylist you like. But you can call on the day you want to have your hair done and ask if s/he is in and they will tell you. They take walk-ins or you can check-in on their app.

I used to go to another chain, Supercuts. You check in on an app, but they list the names of the stylists so you can choose your favorite or just next available. They were also $15 for a no frills.

I switched to Great Clips because they are only 2 miles from the house so a lot closer.

I got tired of spending $40-$60 for a short do. My hair isn't much longer than Himself. His cut was $20 at the high end salon. That just frosted my fanny that women have to pay twice as much. Getting off my soapbox, now.

    2. And both places give you an estimate of wait time on their app.

    1. Gerry has won the Graceful Envelope pretty much every year since it started, but this is her first Best in Show.

The Eldest's birthday is in July so we're planning then. Waiting to find out what her hours at the hospital will be so we can plan to go out and do stuff.

  3. Great photo of you with short hair! I like my hair short and with no frills, too, and get it cut in the men's hairdresser as it half the price of the female one! I am sure you will be looking forward to visiting your daughter. Hugs, Valerie

  5. Sounds like a great week! I noticed that you've been counting down the days to summer ...lol 😉 and it must be so nice to make plans to visit your eldest for her birthday. That envelope is amazing, it is all about the shoes and my preference is the flipflops ...lol 😊. Hope to see your lawn goodies on Sunday and wishing you a hapoy Friday and lovely weekend! J 😊 x

    1. I've been counting down the days to Summer since the New Year :-D The countdown takes the sting out of the Winter. Sort of. Planning is fun. Waiting to see whether she will be on first or second shift.

    1. She's doing well, and I'm happy she has a career. But I wish she wasn't 500 miles away.
