Five good things that happened this week.
1. Planning on spending Christmas with the Eldest. Ordered our Christmas Dinner from Omaha Steak.
2. High winds kicked the electricity off in town. The battery backup for the sump pump worked like a charm, and the electric company got us up and running within two hours.
3. The electricity caused a power surge and blew the brains of the refrigerator. Took awhile before I was able to find a repair person that could come same day. Good news, didn't need to buy a new refrigerator (this one is only 3 years old), bad news the part costs ch-ching. And the repairman got the refrigerator to limp along until the part comes in.
4. The refrigerator part came in and an early morning repair appointment was scheduled. The repairman showed up on time, too.
5. Errands and dinner at the 99. Himself had a coupon.
How was your week?
Omaha Steak, sounds good. Sorry about the power cut and the fridge, not so good. Have a great weekend, Valerie
ReplyDeleteFully cooked, flash frozen, Christmas dinner. Ham, glazed carrots, mashed sweet potatoes, vanilla cake, apple tarts. Will just have to add a salad and some rolls. 😊
DeleteSorry to hear about your frig. It's not a good appliance to lose. But glad it got fixed and glad you could probably save your food as it is cold enough out there. But sounds like a nice week for you otherwise. And luckily tomorrow it is going to warm up at least a little. Have a great weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I found a appliance company to come out the same day. Should be warmer over the weekend, too.
DeleteI like your artwork to illustrate your post. Those are good things, even though some of them are partly bad. Power going out is very bad at this time of year, but coming back on in 2 hours is better than the longer periods of time it can sometimes be. I'm glad you got your refrigerator repaired, but sorry it cost a lot. (That's the problem with all of our appliances having mini computers inside them: it costs a fortune to fix them.) I'm sorry to hear you caught Himself's cold. I can't tell whether or not I'm fighting off a head cold. And with regard to your critique of my reindeer: I agree with you: At first glance, it looked like a head was growing out of the front reindeer's back. I did a double take every time I looked at it. I should've deleted that second reindeer from the png file I made. It's bitterly cold here (just like where you are) but they're claiming it will "warm up" to around 40 by Christmas. (Teddy said if this keeps up, he's going to find a place inside the house where he can hibernate until Spring.)
ReplyDeleteEven when something goes wrong, the like the refrigerator going on the fritz, there's always something good. Like the repairman coming the same day and getting the fridge to limp along until the part came in.
DeleteIt is supposed to get warmer, above freezing so all this ice will melt away. I'm with Teddy about hibernating.
Our freezer conked out this week too! But it turned out to be 'operator error' (mine.... :(.....) LOL Glad your's wasn't too bad either!
ReplyDeleteAt least up here if the freezer goes at this time of the year, nothing much to worry about. Glad you’re freezer is working.
DeleteYour good news - bad news scenario has ended on a happy note! Always so nice to hear:)
ReplyDeleteThe week here has been busy, but we've been getting lots of things done, so that's very good.
A happy productive week is a good thing
Deletewell lucky you only lost power for awhile but not so lucky about the refrigerator...but lucky it could be fixed...but not so great that it cost a lot...and my week - ....a LOT of cleaning up of huge branches etc. on the property. We were going to let the landlord pay for it all to have someone come in but when we heard the county was coming by our road with chippers on two different occasions we have done what we can to get most of the huge branches etc. out to the road. We try to do as much as possible because the people we rent from our great landlords and haven't raised our rent in 7 years but 50 dollars. That's unheard of in Southern California where everything is SO expensive to rent or buy these days. Other than that my week has been uneventful.
ReplyDeleteAlways a plus to have a good landlord
DeleteI think you found the lemonade in the lemons this week, dear. Too bad the power surge caused the fridge to go out, but good you found a repairman who not only got it going again, BUT also showed up on time as promised. Have a wonderful weekend, too.
ReplyDeleteHe also told us to get a surge protector for the fridge. He said the same thing happened to his fridge
DeleteSounds like quite an interesting week you had. The winds are pretty bad lately here as well - that and A LOT of rain!
ReplyDeleteWe also ordered Christmas dinner for our small little family. There is a place across the street from us that makes home-cooked meals all the time. Have a great weekend, CJ!
Having a place across the street to prepare holiday and celebration meals is very convenient. Now you can enjoy your company or family
DeleteSteak ordered for Christmas, now that's a tasty idea :) I'm sorry about your electrical issues. I'd never thought about power surges being an issue with refrigerators, but it makes sense. Glad you could get it back up and running so quickly. This isn't a good time of year to have a fridge failure.
ReplyDeleteOmaha Steaks offers more than just steak. The Eldest wanted a ham dinner so I ordered a spiral ham with sides and dessert. Easy peasy. Heat and eat
DeleteNews to me. Thanks. That's helpful information to have :)
DeleteOh dear, sorry to read about the power cut and the fridge, but pleased it was sorted ok.
ReplyDeleteMy week has gone well, and I've nearly finished wrapping gifts, yippee!
All the best Jan
Good for you. My MIL used to wrap gifts Christmas Eve 😺
DeleteYou've been busy girl! Sorry about the power surge! Your Christmas dinner sounds good!!
ReplyDeleteI’ll let you know!
