A Monarch caterpillar? Nope, according to Google, a Milkweed Tussock Moth. And look don't touch. Those spiky spines can cause mild to severe skin irritation.
Lots of milkweed pods
He looks like a chocolate bunny. So cute, I could bite his ears off.
Sun shower
Timex came to gather the seeds I threw in the grass
A rose bush is coming back.
The weeds in the Zensical garden and the meadow have been having a field day. The bunnies haven't been eating the weeds fast enough. Get cracking, bunnies!
Butterfly eggs? Nope, Milkweed Tussock Moth poop.
A couple of hornets seemed interested in Gruff's bench,
This oak tree will need to come down.
And a new Garden Kite for today.
How does your garden grow?
Ewwwwwwww.....Milkweed Tussock Moth poop! Mother Nature has her seedy side..... :O
ReplyDeleteI was hoping they were Monarch butterfly eggs. When I googled and found out what they were, I said the same thing! 😄
DeleteYour garden is looking great. Don't like the look of those caterpillars and what they leave behind them! Valerie
ReplyDeleteThey look nasty that’s for sure
DeleteI think your dead oak looks like a sculpture. I bet the woodpeckers love it!
ReplyDeleteThe sculpture might be nice if the threat of it coming down on the house during a storm wasn’t a possibility
DeleteMy garden was planted long before we moved here in community life. Great roses, geraniums. But I'd love to walk in yours instead.
ReplyDeleteMy yard is large, mostly wooded with lots of weeds
DeleteNice trip around your garden this week, CJ. Too bad about the Zensical Garden has developed so many weeds. Seems there should be some way to keep the weeds out, but I guess weeding is the only way, after all.
ReplyDeleteYour new kite is adorable. It's SO YOU. Unlike everyone else, I'm not going to comment on the caterpillars and droppings. Guess I just did, though.
There is sand underneath a layer of landscaping cloth and a truckload of stone on top, it amazes me that the weeds still manage to grow. And thanks for not mentioning the caterpillars and droppings. 😉
ReplyDeleteFor some reason blogger wasn't commenting for me yesterday, but it seems to be back. Your garden is looking great.I had a couple of those milkweed tussock moth caterpillars also. But I haven't seen all that poop. Wow, that's a lot. I think the monarch eggs are light brown. Hope it was a nice day for you yesterday. We ended up with a great day but big storms last night. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteSome days Blogger is haunted. 👻 Hopefully, the poops came from more than one moth. All the storms went north or south of me
Deletelove that caterpillar picture - such a clear shot of him. And your garden grows nice. What I can see of your street and surrounding area, it looks like you live in such a beautiful spread out place.
ReplyDeleteI live in a rural, farm community. Population is close to 9,000. Houses on my side of town are built on one acre lots. Newer zoning now requires homes to be built on 2+ acres. There is no gas line in town so homes are heated with oil and/or wood or pellet stove. Most people own their own well and septic. There is a newer development and they have town water and sewerage as they tie into a neighboring town. There's lots of woodland, lakes, ponds, pastures, and fields around town.
DeleteI back tracked through your blog to find a post I hadn't commented on yet. (I'm behind on T-Day so I'll visit everyone's T posts once I've finally finished mine and joined in. I'm blaming Teddy for being late. :-) Your garden looks good, despite a few weeds. Is that oak tree dead? I have a big one next to my house, that is alive and creeping out branches over the roof. I am so glad no lightning bolts hit any of my trees during yesterday afternoon's severe storm. I like your new garden kite. I always enjoy seeing them.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the oak tree is dead, and it looks like a couple of trees up back aren't doing well, either. Himself said during the afternoon there was a lightning strike that was very close! No damage for us.
DeleteYour garden is growing well, the bunny is cute and I do like your new kite.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I love watching the bunnies
DeleteI love your garden kite! How precious!
ReplyDeleteYour bunny is so cute!
Your pictures are great! Laughing at the poop! LOL! That was a lot! LOL!
Great looking garden CJ!
Big Hugs!
So disappointed to find out the little pellets weren't monarch butterfly eggs! 😺
