The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. After vacations, appointments, and illness finally got back to walking with Red.

2.  Enjoyed teaching The Art of Stress Relief: Gratitude Journal at my local library. I think the participants enjoyed the workshop, too.

3. To get me to go food shopping, Himself bribed me with going out to eat. Brunch at IHOP

4. Started working on the paint by numbers kit.

5. With zucchini coming in, we bought a spiralizer, and I made zoodles (zucchini noodles). Not bad, but I think I prefer zucchini bread.

How was your week?

  1. My zucchini re just starting to grow. So late this year. And good to get back to walking. I will miss mine once school starts. Sounds like you had a very good week! Happy weekend-or almost. Hugs-Erika

    1. Once school starts, the temps will drop the snow will come and no one will do any walking. 😺

  3. Sounds quite good. Zucchini noodles are okay, but the real thing somehow tastes better! Have a fun weekend, Valerie

    1. Zucchini noodles are okay, but they can't hold a candle to pasta 😺

  4. I've always wanted to try zucchini noodles. I love zucchini bread. Food shopping is definitely not my favorite lol I take a buddy when I can. Classes at the library sound interesting. I'm not sure our library system offers anything like this. Getting back to walking is a good enough thing even if it were the only good thing for the week :)

    1. Zucchini bread is way better than zucchini noodles 😺 They were okay, but nothing beats pasta. Our libraries have lots of wonderful programs. Libraries around here have changed so much since I was a kid. No longer just a quiet place to read and study, but more community center oriented. I've taught different crafts and calligraphy at various libraries across the state. Check with your library and suggest programs you'd like to see. And btw. Have pen will travel. 😉

    2. Oh, and the Vegetti was around $20. Besides making the zoodles, it will slice potatoes, apples, carrots

    3. One of our library branches has a weekly coffee and coloring group for adults, so they do have some programming ;)

The Vegetti sounds useful even if you never use it for zucchini noodles ever again.

  5. You had another good week. And I like that bribe: IHOP yum! There's nothing better tasting than vegetables fresh from your own garden. That seminar you taught at the library sounds like it was enjoyed by all.

  6. I want a spiralizer, so if you get tired of yours my address is ______________________ (JOKE, well sort of). I love zucchini any way you want to make it.

Our library has monthly lectures that last one hour, but mostly it's for information only. No hands on stuff, just info and an occasional slide show. Good for you and your library system. My friend Joseph teaches "drum circles" and about steel drums at various libraries across several counties in the LA area where he lives. Yes, travel is important, but he has tons of drums to unpack when he goes, so he has to take more than a pen (grin). Sounds like a great week, regardless.

  7. BTW, I wasn't too impressed with IHOP the last time Sally and I went. In fact, I didn't even show our meals because we had chicken and waffles and the chicken was so hard and dry, I could hardly eat it. I hope you had better luck with your meal.

    1. I debated getting chicken and waffles, but decided on the stuffed French toast combo. Strawberry vanilla stuffed French toast, 2 scrambled eggs, 2 strips of bacon (could have cooked a little longer), and hash browns. All in all good.

  8. enjoyed reading about your week - which reminds me I need to make some zucchini bread soon. I would take the bribe too if i had to grocery shop but I don't usually do that. Mike does it because he's the cook and I stay home and rake dirt when it needs it.

    1. Himself used to do all the grocery shopping, but now walking with a cane, he can't really carry very much.

  9. Zucchini/courgette is a good substitute if you really can't, or shouldn't, eat pasta!
This is a great time of year for them too :)

    All the best Jan

    1. It's not a good substitute if you're Italian 😉😺
