This and That Thursday

More from my Enders Island journal.

Tuesday morning started off with a thick curtain of fog. I could barely see the outline of the yacht club across the way. Fortunately, the fog burned off quickly.

Tuesday was the morning I also discovered a few dozens hundreds thousands of tiny, sea spiders (hermit crabs) commuting on their sand highways.

The gull claimed the steeple of the chapel as his territory. I called him the Holy Gully, a pun on an old song and a dance from the 1960s called the Hully Gully by The Olympics And that made me think of my Auntie Olga and Auntie Emma. They loved to dance the Hully Gully at weddings.

In the gift shop, I found some prayer name cards with the girlies names. I rarely find things with their names on them and spelled correctly, too.

The lightning cable to my iPhone/iPad died. Fortunately, Valerie had an iPad, and she brought her charger with her to class every day so I could charge my devices. I was starting a photography project on the island, but put that on hold until October. Taking pictures eats up the battery, and I didn't want to pester Valerie every time I needed the charger.

My salad smiling at me just cracked me up.

And the end of another beautiful day on the island.

  1. Nice journal pages. Even if you didn't have your class it sounds like a nice get away. And add the class and now you have what looks like a great get away. I enjoyed your journal. Happy Thursday. Hugs-Erika

    1. The Enders Island is beautiful. It's open to the public so you can wander the grounds and the gardens, visit the my little beach, see the beautiful artwork in the chapel. Bring your own lunch as food services are not available to the general public.

  2. Great artwork in your Enders Island journal. And I hope yesterday's storms weren't too bad where you are in MA. One more day of hot and humid, then it's supposed to get beautiful. Yay!

    1. We didn't get the severe storms. A lot of lightning and a couple of heavy downpours. And I think hot and humid is beautiful 😺

  3. Love your journal, you had such a fun time there and have recorded it so beautifully. Went to an exhibition of ancient manuscripts this week, so fantastic, but absolutely NO photos allowed, sad! But they were such treasures, you would have loved them! Yesterday evening I wne out for a meal with some friends, and had a huge sausage (Bratwurst) with mashed potatoes and veggies, and the sausage was also arranged as a smile. Have a great day, Valerie

  6. Keeping a journal like that looks like a way to bring the memories back. Your art is lovely. I can imagine the hermit crabs; what a sight!

I had never heard of the Hully Gully before.

    1. You never heard of the Hully Gully because you are so young.

  7. Fell asleep reading this. It was NOT boring, I was just at the end of my day and couldn't stay awake. I'm up all night with my European friends and sleep while people on this side of the pond are awake. Doesn't make for good company IRL, but I've always been a night owl.

Enjoyed your drawings, but must confess, I've never heard of the Hully Gully. The gull was cute, though and your Aunts dancing was well done.

I look forward to more of these, and was glad the gift shop had perfect prayer cards for your girls.
