Five good things that happened this week.
1. The Eldest got word that she was to start her new job at the hospital laboratory this week.
2. Saturday was baking day: white bread, cinnamon raisin bread, and blueberry pie cookies.
3. After sitting in the driveway for over a month, Himself's car started right up.
4. A friend suggested I watch Cadfael with Derek Jacobi. I'm really enjoying the series.
5. New, blue gloves for calligraphy arrived.
How was your week?
Glad your eldest can start her job. Have fun with the new gloves. Cadfael is wonderful, I enjoyed it ver much, and the books, too. Valerie
ReplyDeleteAfter being unemployed for a year, she was happy to get back to lab work
DeleteSounds like another good week. I didn't even think about the car battery going dead until I think one of the T Gang mentioned it, so I started my car yesterday, just to charge the battery. I like those calligraphy gloves. I assume they help keep your hands from smearing not quite dry ink. I'm glad you guys are enjoying Cadfael.
ReplyDeleteThe gloves are to keep the oils from my hand being absorbed into the paper
DeleteGreat experience and good calligraphy Globes. I followed your blog now. Thx
ReplyDeleteWelcome and thanks
DeleteYum.
ReplyDeleteAnd the house smelled amazing, too
DeleteGreat news on the job front. I am starting making my bread shortly. Going to make 2 of the Farmhouse White. I want to make a cinnamon raisin one as well. The Blueberry pie cookies sound intriguing. Never heard of pie cookies before. Good rainy baking sort of day. Hugs
ReplyDeleteYou'll see the recipes for the pie cookies on an upcoming Tuesday post.
DeleteAwesome news about your eldest! Hope she absolutely loves the new job! Good to hear about the other good things, too - especially those gloves. And thanks for the Cadfael recommendation. We're almost ready to cancel our streaming service - so much junk.
ReplyDeleteShe loves lab work. I just hope her co-workers are nice.
DeleteSounds like a good week all around! :D
ReplyDeleteYup, like most weeks.
DeleteIs this your first time through Cadfael? I almost envy you :) Wonderful adaptation! The books are good reads, and since the adaptation is perfectly cast the books are fun whether you read them before or after the tv series.
ReplyDeleteCongrats again to your daughter on the job! The bread sounds tasty. You must have the Battery of all batteries for it to start after so long :) Happy May Day!
Yup, first time for Cadfael. Himself had just put a brand new battery in his car so that's why it started up right away
DeleteYay! Best and safe wishes to the Eldest.
ReplyDeleteYOU take special care.
Thanks for thinking of the Eldest.
DeleteWhat a great week! I'm so happy for your eldest, was this the job you mentioned that she wanted? Your baking sounds yummy, I've not been able to get flour so I've been making things like rice crispy cakes (so yummy) instead...lol 😉. Glad the car started first time and that you enjoyed your TV series too. The gloves look great, I'm not sure why you use them is it something to do with marking the paper? Happy May wishes and weekend! Stay safe and keep well! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteYes, this is the job she wanted and finally came through.
DeleteNice week CJ. I hope we really see the sun this weekend. The clouds and rain were downers for sure. My week wasn't bad but I am really ready for the school year to be done. Happy new month.
ReplyDeleteThe weekend forecast has changed and it sounds like for the better. When school is done, you'll join the retirement crowd. What a way to end your school career!
DeleteLooks like those gloves got here right in time. Please tell the eldest to stay safe and take all precautions in her new job.
ReplyDeleteShe is. She said they're taking the temperature of everyone that comes through the door, and they have masks and face shields for the techs to use. "Plus hand-washing and disinfecting surfaces but that's something us labbies do anyway."
DeleteWhat a great week! Stay safe always!

Thank. You, too. 😊
DeleteWhat a really nice week! Full of good things! Btw, that blueberry pie cookies - OMG my mouth is watering right now LOL!
ReplyDeleteGlad your daughter can finally start her new job, too.
She had a good first, training week and says the people in the lab are really nice. So that's a bonus, too.
DeleteSo pleased that your eldest can start her job.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds yummy baking :)
All the best Jan
Yes, it was a worry with her being unemployed for a year so a relief that she's gainfully employed again.
DeleteCongrats to your eldest!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was a long wait
