How Does Your Garden Grow?

The Watcher

Storm #2

A loud bang while I was in the studio made me jump. Did the Young One fall? Nope. Kitties were sleeping. Outside the window, I could see traffic slowing and coming to a stop in front of the house. What happened? A tree from the opposite side of the woods fell from the weight of the heavy, wet snow. Fortunately, no wires came down so we didn't lose electricity. A police officer directed one lane of traffic while the town crew removed some of the tree.

The maple is bowed by the heavy wet snow. I was afraid it would crash and take power lines down.

Himself suggested I might want to go out after dinner to shovel the walk as temps. were falling and everything was going to freeze. This would be the second pass on the walk

I also cleared the snow off Moose

another artisan, hand-crafted driveway

I was glad I went out the night before because everything did freeze and driveway was an ice rink

I was prepared as I went out to sand/salt the walk and a path as I was wearing crampons.

Instead of having metal cleats, they had hard rubber so you could wear them indoors without worry of floors being marred.

Always watching

The Gnomes measured about 4 inches of snow. 4.6 inches according to the official total announced during the television weather report.

What the heck is this? After 2 weeks of small storms, and grey skies the sun made a brief appearance before the 3rd storm predicted for this week

The squirrel running evasive maneuvers

The 3rd storm was a non-starter for my area, but did bring heavy rains which washed most of the

snow away.

  1. LOL, your Hubby is really nice suggesting shovelling for you.
Nice idea to hide the number plate, btw :-)
The watcher is just too cute.

No real snow here, just a thin coat this morno and all gone.

    1. Himself has difficulty walking and isn't able to shovel. He used to do it to make it safe for the girlies and me, but now my turn to make it safe for him.

  2. At the moment it looks similar here in our garden to the pictures above - a lot of snow, but fortunately without falling trees.
    So cute, your wacher :-)

    1. Lots of people, mostly north of where I live where the snow was the heaviest, lost power. Knock on wood, we did not lose electricity

  4. Lucky you to get most of your snow washed away. Not here. The top is crusty. I like your crampons/grippers/ Mine has metal, but they slide on like yours do and work great too. Happy Sunday. hugs-Erika

    1. If I lived where you live, I wouldn't miss it at all either. Too bad Himself whines about humidity

  6. That is a lot of snow! Ice and snow on a tree doesn't bode well for the tree. In Illinois, trees were tumbling all over after a big snow storm. Wonderful photos.

  9. Ah yes, the pleasures of living in rural area, eh? I grew up in the boonies and I guess you could say that I still do live there because, like you, we live along a country road.

Trees can be scary because they can do so much damage!

I always enjoy "the watcher". lol

    1. There were trees coming down all over the place. While I was out shoveling, I could hear trees crashing in the woods

  11. From Elizabeth and Bleubeard: Our snow melted and we got rain the second time around. You definitely got a lot more snow than we got. We got about 3 inches, a little more at the airport. Now we have standing water that turned to ice. We won't be out of the deep freeze until the weekend. Stay safe and maybe hire someone to shovel, dear.

Love seeing the Watcher. Stay warm this weekend, please.
