After lunch, we needed to walk off the pizza. Teague thought she would like to visit her uncle's house and the field she used to play in when she visited. The house was in Arlington, Massachusetts
The field was now a huge park and was filled with robins. So even though I saw my first robin, I lamented there were no robins in my own backyard.
This area of the town is called "The Heights" From the top of the hill you have a magnificent view of the city of Boston. You can see a much better picture of the Boston skyline from The Friends of the Robbins Farm Park webpage
Teague's uncle's house is the yellow house in the lower, right corner. She remembers rolling down the enormous hill when she was a kid.
At one time, the park had been a farm. The granite blocks mark the foundation of the farmhouse
This dog sculpture is a replica of a statue that stood guard over the Robbins farmhouse.
The park was a popular place. Across the street from a school, even on this cold, dreary, Friday afternoon, the park was filled with kids playing on the swings, enormous slides, and other equipment.
Teague said when she played there as a child, there were a couple of swings and a teeter totter, but not much else. Teague, her brother, and cousin just liked to run around wild and roll down the hill. Her parents liked the fact that the kids could burn off energy, not whine about being bored while visiting the uncle, and probably slept on the ride home.
My beverage ticket for this week is my tea cup as I edit photographs.
Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

You had a fun time out with Teague. Love your cup! Happy T Day, Valerie
Oh that is cool to have a park and her uncle's home remembered. And what a view. I think this is near my friends house as I remember this park, just seeing it from afar and now walking through it though. I see the cold and clouds are back. Ugh! Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
It's always a fun day when Teague and I get together.
It's been chilly and rainy all month. Doesn't seem to be a break coming either. At least it's not snow!
That looks like a great place to play as a child. Did they ever sled down the hill in Winter? I like the dog statue. Happy T-Day!
Looks like a fun road trip. I am ready for some sun.
Teague didn't mention it, but I bet they did. Awesome hill! The dog statue is very cool.
Sun maybe comes out for an hour tomorrow =^,.^=
That's some view! Must have been a lovely place to live and play, even if just for visits. Lucky Teague! :)
The view is spectacular. My phone didn't capture the whole skyline.
How nice that the place that holds such fond childhood memories is still available to be visited and is building memories for a new generation. Sweet! Happy T Tuesday!
What a beautiful view of Boston and a lovely place to reminisce.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
what wonderful remembrances. That is some amazing view of Boston-wow!Happy T day!
And from the sights and sounds of the children there, they will have lots of fond memories
The view was fabulous. You could see out to the airport, the Tobin Bridge and beyond
What a wonderful park. I can just imagine rolling down the hill when I was a youngster. Would have been fun. I like the little dog statue. Great post. Happy T Day!
Great to read and see the pics. What memories we all hold from our childhood and I imagine Teague will always remember rolling down that hill. My grandfather lived in KC across the train tracks and close to downtown. His property was on a big corner and my sis and I would roll down the hill in summer and sit on sled down it in winter. I went back to visit the area years ago and couldn't believe how tiny the hill was.
The view was incredible.
I've had all kinds of trouble keeping my internet connected today. I was here earlier, but then my internet went out as I was leaving a comment.
You and Teague have all kinds of great adventures. I really enjoyed seeing that view of Boston in the background. I also enjoyed seeing the dog sculpture, but please don't tell Bleubeard.
LOVED your mug and laughed, too. Thanks for sharing your time with Teague and your adorable Inky mug with us for T this Tuesday, CJ. I just hope my internet lasts a few more hours so I can get through T Tuesday.
If the dog statue had been a cat statue, I think I would have tried to find a way to rehome it. =^,.^=
The hill in Robbins Park was a big hill. I imagine to a child it would have seemed like a mountain. Climbed like a mountain with old legs :-D
Internet connections again? Would installing a Wi-Fi extender help? Teague and I have been having adventures since we were in Jr. high. I met her in an English class in 9th grade. I won't tell Bleubeard about the dog statue. I love the mug the Young One gave me. Such cattitude :-D
I enjoyed your post and seeing your photographs. It looks a great park and I can just imagine youngsters rolling down that hill …
I know other commenters also like it, but so do I, the dog statue … isn't it good!
Enjoy your week.
All the best Jan
It looks like you had a real interesting trip. The photos were lovely and Teague would be having great memories to add to the ones already stored.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
I so enjoyed joining you on your travels and how wonderful to see a field of robins 😀. I'm loving your mug too, fabulous ...lol 😉. Wishing you a very Happy T Day! J 😊 x
What a great place! I think that would be so much fun rolling down that hill! LOL! Love your cup CJ! Big Hugs!
Don't you love seeing flocks of robins? They are probably heading for your house now:)
Love the mug;)
Have a great one.
It's a good statue. I'd be all over it if it was a black cat
Not flocks, but there is a pair that has been visiting this week. Must be all the rain making it easy for them to grab worms.
Makes me dizzy just thinking about it.
There had to have been at least 2 dozen robins. I've never seen that many gathered before.
It was a great day
Boy, you sure do get around! LOL!
Robins are another bit of wild life we get PLENTY of here. All year round just about and they sign their names on our cars every day ;)
Car signatures :-D
We have Robins here in Spain and I was surprised as we always associate them with very cold weather, snow etc, they do look slightly different but now I can't think that I've seen one this year, maybe too warm.
Happy T day
Jan x
Robins, in the New England region where I live, are associated with the first sign of Spring. They usually don't spend their Winters here, too cold.
Lovely views ,CJ.I really enjoyed Teague's recollections of rolling down that hill and running wild. I remember days like that. Pure childhood joy! Happy T-day! Eileen xx
What a great place this looks with those views! I am still smiling at the pic of your mug! Belated Happy T day! Chrisx
The Young One gave me the mug. She knows me so well
:-D
A shame every child can't have those kinds of memories
I have just been made aware that my comments this week have not got through. I don't know why. I'm really sorry.
