From October 2007: This month's ATC theme was Dr. Seuss. Since today was a rainy day, it was a perfect day to play with Thing One and Thing Two. I found this theme to be hard to interpret. I looked at Green Eggs and Ham, my favorite Suess book, but couldn't find anything that inspired me. Scoured the Internet for images and quotes. Finally came across this one:
"You're in pretty good shape for the shape you are in."
But what to do for an image. Last year, I had made some ink blots for a small book I made. Yes, these were done on purpose like Rorschach blots. Anyway, one of the ink blots reminded me of a silhouette of Dr. Seuss' creatures. Maybe even the venerable Cat himself if he was wearing tails along with his stove pipe hat. The background is a computer generated image created in Paint Shop Pro. The ink blots were printed on glossy paper and mounted with double stick tape to give a 3D effect. Ziller Glossy Black ink with heaven knows what size crowquill.
This is part of Bleubeard and Elizabeth's Second Look. Head on over to their page to see what the rest of the gang are up to the second time around.
This is a fun piece with that quote and the blot cat. Happy 2nd on the 2nd, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I simply adore this. It's a gem, that's for sure. You went through a great deal of detail to present the inky cat. And the background proves you know your way around the digital world, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this beauty with us as your second look on the 2nd.
The ink blot was serendipity as it was used in another project, but it was perfect for this one.
DeleteI never thought of doing Dr Seuss for a theme but I will say the ink blots were pure genius and the quote works perfect with them. Yup, we were chilly here too. And it seems to be so dark in the morning and the evening now. Short days make me sad in one way but in another way it allows me to be inside and be the homebody. I always feel when the sun is shining I need to get outside. But the of course the earlier nights make it easier to sleep too. Happy Monday and October 2 already. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I scanned in and saved the ink blots. It's so dark now when Himself leaves for school at the crack of stupid early. He has to turn on the outside lights and then I have to get up and turn them off. Poor Little Princess
DeleteThis is a wonderful thing to do and must have been fun to see through. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteExchanges are fun to participate in. Exciting to see how people interpret the same theme.
