T Stands For Chessmen Cookies

Recently, our hostess, Elizabeth blogged about having some Pepperidge Farms Chessmen cookies as a treat to go with her tea. Chessmen are plain, simple butter cookies, and I thought they sounded like a nice treat for tea, too.

On a quick trip to the grocery store for some things to make salad, I ran through the cookie aisle to pick up a package of Chessmen. I didn't pay any attention to the packaging. Imagine my surprise when I plated the cookies and instead of having chess pieces embossed on the cookie as a design, these cookies had a Christmas motif. What?? We haven't even had Halloween yet!

Oh, well. The cookies go perfectly with my new mug and the St. Patrick's Day topper I never removed from the tea table. As the mug states: Happy Hallothanksmas though I prefer Merry Thanksgivoween.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  2. Interesting mug. I guess that is a way to have one mug for multiple holidays! Cute!
Love those chess cookies. Despite being Christmas themed, they will still taste good!
    Happy Tea Day,

    1. They are a nice cookie though truth be told I've not met many cookies, especially the Pepperidge Farm cookies, that aren't nice.

  11. I am pretty sure I spotted a blue willow plate under the cookies. I collect blue willow, or any blue and white china for that matter.

  12. I suppose since Halloween cookies (like Oreos) have been out since August, it is no surprise Christmas ones are out. There is nothing better with tea than a plain butter cookie. (Well sometimes any cookie is good.) Loving your new mug. The gnomes are cute. or are they elves. I hope it was a good T day. Hugs-Erika

  13. I am late visiting because my electricity was out from shortly before 5:00 p.m. last night for around 19 hours. My apologies if you think I had forgotten or was ignoring you.

I was gifted with those Chessmen cookies by my foodie friend Sally, but I sure was surprised when I saw YOURS were Christmas oriented. The only place I've been in months and months and months (Scott shops for all my groceries) was to Dollar Tree to look for a bit of autumn fare to go with my outdoor decorations. Thankfully, they have NOT yet put out any Thanksgiving OR Christmas decorations. I was so surprised, though. I hope to get to Sam's soon and I bet they have their Christmas decs out.

I love your new mug, but I like your idea of how it should read better. It certainly is all inclusive with those cute little gnomes. Love your cute little ghost, too. Thanks for sharing your Christmas Chessmen, your mug, and your ghost with us for T this Tuesday, dear CJ.

    1. Never any need to apologize. We all lead busy lives or lives interrupted by electrical outages. Glad your electricity was restored and that you came by for a visit.

  17. I love a plain butter cookie (as long as they are made with butter. Some of them aren't). What a surprise to already have the Christmas theme on it. Here in Spain the first turron has appeared in the supermarkets (Turron being the typical Spanish Christmas goodie)
I smiled at the names of your combined holidays. And a great mug of course.
Sorry I'm late but as you regulars know, we are away on Tuesday, and today we had a power cut so I'm even later (It's nine pm)
    A belated happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca
