A few days after the blizzard, the surface of the snow looked quilted or pebbled. I've never seen this before. Maybe due to all the blowing and drifting of the blizzard.
You are coming back in to feed us, right?
Before the ice storm, checking on the solar panels to see how much snow was on them. I was surprised the Western array was pretty much cleared of snow.
Not so, for the main array. I debated about clearing the snow off, but decided to leave it
The greenhouse survived the blizzard.
After the ice storm
Sunrise
The greenhouse made it again.
The stairs into the house are electrified so no ice because I left the stairs running all night during the storm. The walk was a sheet of ice covered with a layer of snow. Surprisingly, not too slippery for me to negotiate.
I ran out of sand and salt so had to stop and refill my small bucket.
All done. Stairs and front walk salted and sanded.

How does your garden grow?
I didn't think to take photos during our storm-we had so much ice under the snow but for some reason around here did not stick to the trees. I always wonder about snow on solar panels, and how cool is that heaters in the sidewalk-that would sure help me on the steep hill Happy Sunday
ReplyDeleteEventually above freezing temps and the sun will melt snow from the panels. The entire array doesn’t need to be snow free in order to generate electricity. Though the more panels that are clear, the more electricity is generated.
DeleteIt sure is beautiful but I can't imagine doing all that work over and over again all winter - and can't imagine being that cold either. I think I'll stay in Florida lol. Have a nice Sunday!
ReplyDeleteIf Himself wouldn’t whine about the humidity, I think I might be a snowbird.
DeleteSo lovely! Heated stairs sounds like a great idea. We still have some icicles, but our high is predicted to reach into the 40s today. Many still don't have power, so they'll be happy to see warmer temps.
ReplyDeleteThe heated stairs was one of the better home improvements we made. Hopefully, the electric crews can get the electricity up and running for everyone.
DeleteGrowing up we had a neighbor with a loooooooong, steep driveway. He got fed up with having to shovel every time it snowed so he had it ripped out and a heated one installed. It didn't snow for YEARS after that! LOL :)
ReplyDeleteAt least he saved on his electric bill
DeleteYou sound like you had more straight ice than we did. We have pellet ice. I love the idea of electrified stairs. At least you can’t slide down them. Enjoy the rest of this sunny day.
ReplyDeleteWe had more freezing rain and drizzle. A little bit of sleet. Yup, after sliding down the stairs several times, Himself decided that heated stairs was the way to go
DeleteThe weather looks awful, hope it soon warms up for you. Valerie
ReplyDeleteStill another day of awful weather snow, sleet, before changing to rain. Temps on Tues and the rest of the week expected to be in the 40s!
DeleteGreat photos. The snow is beautiful, altho inconvenient.
ReplyDeleteIt's only pretty if you don't have to shovel it. 😉
DeleteWe had a little snow and ice here in our part of TX too..Nothing compared to you though... and i would say after today it will be all gone. Love seeing kitties in windows. I often put them in my drawings of houses.. Pssst... started a blog up again and put pictures of the new house in TX on there if you'd like to see. Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteRunning over to take a look
DeleteSnow always looks so nice, but have to say I'm pleased we haven't got any at the moment!
ReplyDeleteOur first daffodil is in bloom in the garden, I couldn't believe it.
All the best Jan
We got nothing but snow (THANK GOODNESS). Temps stayed way below freezing for three days, so not good on the heating bill, but good on the snow since it didn't thaw, then refreeze over night. You got it bad.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of friends who have their stairs and walks heated. We don't really get that much snow that I can't get out and shovel my walk.
