Fun Facts About the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
In 2006, musician, Taj Mahal (nee Henry St. Claire Fredericks Jr) was named the state's Blues Artist. Mahal was raised in Springfield, Massachusetts and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the 1960s.
I had no idea Taj Mahal was raised there! Cool! We don't seem to have a state musician but have too many state songs to count. None of them are blues, sadly. That seems a strictly Memphis thing.
He's from Memphis, though. That'd keep him from being embraced by the rest of TN. Memphis is the unloved step-sister of the state. Dolly Parton, on the other hand. We'd _all_ embrace her :)
I love the music! Enjoy your weeknd, Valerie

ReplyDeleteBlues isn't really a genre I would have associated with Massachusetts
