Nothing worse than insipid tea. Thanks for this, I enjoyed listening to it and being socially correct at the same time with the Earl Grey tea I had this morning :) Happy T Day Elle/EOTC xx
I've been drinking tea since I was 10 years old. I tried coffee at a place where I worked. The coffee was horrible and I got sick from it. Never had coffee after that.
How wonderful was that?!! Well i most certainly do not make proper tea as i use the microwave or my Keurig ... lol. I like tea... will often have it on cold winter nights.. BUT i LOVE coffee.. Thanks CJ! and Happy T day! Hugs! deb
I think for the true Englisherman (and here I refer to my English born and bred grandfather....) it has more to do with the ritual than the actual taste of the tea. I could be wrong..... :-/
I had to laugh at we Americans who have never had a proper pot of tea. I loved when he said sniff the tea. You might get dizzy, but it's perfectly legal.
My grandmother was British born and bred. She was brought up in a very traditional British household in America. However, she never drank tea. She started giving me coffee when I was in the 9th grade and didn't like milk. Shame on me. I have never had much love of tea, either with milk or lemon. On the other hand, coffee is my drug of choice and I have been addicted since high school. Thanks for sharing this really fun and clever tea video with us for T this Tuesday, dear CJ.
There's a purpose to the ritual. Yes, I agree the weird practice of bringing warm water and a teabag to the table yields an insipid cup. I prefer tea made right. At home ;)
I'm not a tea drinker but having watched two grandmothers, my mother and mother in law I think I might manage to make a proper cup of tea. Hubby uses mug and teabag at home but often orders a pot of tea when we're out.
Social correctness and tea, hmmm, this is a new one! Happy T-Day :-)
ReplyDeleteI think tea has always been socially correct 😸
DeleteAs the New Yorker used to put it: "There will always be an England."
