Maneki Neko

Happy Maneki Neko Day! Maneki Neko is the Japanese/Chinese Lucky Cat or Beckoning Cat.You usually see them at businesses. The Maneki Neko is said to bring wealth or customers to a business depending on which paw is raised. They come in various colors, too, which represent different things.

My little, black Maneki Neko supposedly attracts good health and  wards off evil spirits. Though they were primarily used in businesses, they are become more popular in homes. You can read more about this adorable, good luck charm here.

  2. I definitely need one of those lucky cats. I had no idea they brought such good luck until I read the link you shared. I want a piggy bank, air freshener, and key chain, please! Thanks for raising Maneki Neko awareness.

    1. The duck was a Mother’s Day gift when the Young One was in 2nd grade. One of her classmate’s Grandpa cut all the wood and went in and helped them all make the memo minder.

  7. Thanks for the history behind this cat. I think they look great.

Don't tell Elizabeth, but I have an upcoming photo of Teddy with a magazine image showing a large cat statue like this one. It will be in a T-Day post in several weeks. It's the "surprise" image that Teddy had put out a teaser about Elizabeth and Bleubeard liking it. :-)
