The last day, the last morning to spend time at the little beach. Like a hotel, we had to be out of the dorm by 11 am. Valerie had the studio unlocked so people could bring their stuff to the studio, but I had driven down so after breakfast and before class, I dragged my pillow and suitcase and loaded them in the trunk.
We spent the morning finishing projects. Bruce, the island photographer took pictures of each of us with our projects. Valerie presented us with a certificate, and Bruce took a picture of the class.
One of the students who lived nearby brought in souvenir t-shirts for everyone from the Mohegan Sun casino. We had our final lunch together, said good bye, and headed off the island.
I knew I should have taken the turn before the I-95 entrance, but I followed the GPS and ended up going home through Rhode Island. Not a big deal as either going through Connecticut or Rhode Island the travel time was the same, but this route would take me through the capital, Providence and rush hour begins so early on a Summer Friday afternoon.
Fortunately, in my former life as a computer programmer, I worked in Rhode Island so knew a route where I didn't have to drive through Providence to get home.
The end of the art journal until I return to Enders in October.
Providence or I-95.....I choose Providence! It was such a nice little city years ago....is it still? :)
ReplyDeleteI suppose it's still a nice, little city, but it's grown.
Deletehave enjoyed reading your journal CJ ... I bet this was fun, and from what I can see of your certificate, the island looks awesome !! ☺☺♥♥
ReplyDeleteEnders Island is such a beautiful spot
DeleteThat was a very memorable time for you. It's always good to have such memories to keep and hold. Valerie
ReplyDeleteA classmate from a previous class I took sent a quote that sums up the experience. "God gave us memories that we might have roses in December." - James M. Barrie
DeleteI love this quote-thanks
DeleteSounds like it was a wonderful workshop. Glad you got to go.
DeleteI didn't know you were a computer programmer! You most definitely are the whizz kid.
BC, before children and before calligraphy, I was a computer programmer. Though I'm a dinosaur in today's IT. The computers I worked on were the size of a full size Buick automobile. Your cellphone has more computing power than the largest computer I worked on!
Deleteso glad you shared more of the art classes-glad you knew your way home-I always get lost-my gps has been helping in out for sure
ReplyDeleteI have a horrible sense of direction so I need the GPS
DeleteThis is a wonderful time to remember. And to drive through a familiar place really nails it.
ReplyDeleteKnowing where I was and how to avoid the city took the panic out of driving. I hate city driving.
DeleteWhat a great way to end the experience at Enders. I thought Providence was a beautiful city, but I wasn't driving through. I was there to check it out.
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh at your small bag in the back of your vehicle. It looked like it weighted down the back of the car (grin).
You should have seen what happened when I packed the backpack with my tools! 😺
DeleteI enjoyed seeing your art journal pages for Enders Island. And yes, rush hour on Fridays is horrible in both CT and RI in the summer.
ReplyDeleteAnd everyone drives like it's a Full Moon! 😺
DeleteYesterday was crazy so I am playing catch up. My favorite drawing is your car with all the luggage in the back. That's an angle I have never thought to try, but will now. Smile. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI didn't know how else to show my stuff.
DeleteSometimes it's fun to take a different route :)
ReplyDeleteEspecially if you don't have to drive through a major city during rush hour. I hate city driving.
DeleteLovely seeing your journal pages.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks, Jan. 😊
DeleteYour suitcase looks so big! LOL! Love your journal pages and hearing about the fun time you had! Lucky you knew the route to get home! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I have to work on perspective 😺
