The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. Out looking for lighting for the studio/office, we stopped for lunch at Galliford's in Mendon by Southwick Zoo. Ordinarily hard to get in, but the zoo is closed for the season. We did see some goats out in the petting zoo area. Brought back happy memories of the Young One feeding the goats.

2. Went to see the movie The Current Wars about the competition between Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, and George Westinghouse.

3. Gnomevember arrived. Nan and I spent some time at Tower Hill Botanical Garden searching for the gnomes.

4. My street got new paving. No more driving on a washboard studded with potholes.

5. My BIL installed the new light in the studio/office.

How was your week?

  1. How was that film? I haven't seen much about it but it is an interesting topic. Sounds like a good week. Stay warm this weekend, but luckily, no snow. That makes it s good week in my book. Smile Hugs-Erika

    1. We enjoyed the movie. If true, a bit of history we didn't hear about. Yes, no snow makes this an excellent week.

  2. Did you find any gnomes? Our neighbour has lots in his garden! The film sounds good. My week wasn't bad, and my flowers are now blooming, too, so that's good. I tried to get through the standing stone here, it didn't work, and I didn't get to meet handsome Jamie! Valerie

    1. You'll hear about the gnomes on a future T Day. I'm sorry you didn't get through the stones, but glad, too. We would never know what happened to you and would be worried.

    2. I would have called you. I always have my cell-phone with me! Perhaps with a selfie together with Jamie!

    3. 😺 And then I could be jealous

  3. I will have to see the movie to see if they got it right. Living in "EdisonLand" as it were they really try and push his legacy but Tesla is the true hero (if you overlook his 'love affair with his pigeon......) ;D

    1. They didn't mention anything about Tesla's pigeon. Just his fondness for fashion, and the prejudice he faced. Though his concept was superior, it wasn't able to handle things like running machinery. He was too far ahead of his time.

  4. I knew about the war between Edison and Tesla, but didn't know Westinghouse was also involved. I really want to see that film because I LOVE Benedict Cumberbatch.

Hope your taxes don't go up now that your street is paved. It's a good selling point for your street, too.

  5. The Tesla/Edison story is an interesting one to read about; I didn't even know there was a movie. Cool! New lighting is hard. I like lots of light, and I'd love another table lamp right now, but lamps are ugly lol Or at least they look that way to me having looked at so many. I've never heard of Gnome-vember, but it sounds like fun. Gnomes aren't big around here. Petting zoos provide fond memories :) We still see them at craft fairs and at seasonal fairground attractions. We've had our first frost, so the zinnias are brown. But my fall sunflowers are doing well. I'd love to see what's blooming at your botanical garden :)
