On Saturday, the town fire department and first responders sponsored an Easter Parade. A fire truck with police would haul the Easter Bunny around town. You could follow the progress on a tracking software app (program) called Glympse so you would know when the EB was near you street so you could go outside to wave. After dying eggs for the Easter egg bread I make, I settled in with a cuppa to watch the progress so I could run outside and video the excitement when the Easter Bunny came by.
As I watched the progress on the map and a route someone posted on the Facebook town site, I was disappointed when I realized EB wouldn't be coming by my house. I thought they would be taking the same route they did when they drove Santa and Mrs. Claus around town, but they took a different route.
Fortunately, the town cable station recorded the excitement of the fire trucks leaving the main station in the center of town. Just a little fun for the kids and kids at heart.
Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.
Sounds like BIG fun, nothing like that here! Happy T Day, stay safe, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI think it was a last minute idea, but yes fun.
DeleteIt's nice that they did that. I'm glad you were able to see a video of it, since they didn't come by your street.
ReplyDeleteMe, too.
DeleteWhat a fun way to celebrate with the Easter parade and great that you could track the progress too 😊. Thanks for sharing the footage, it much have brightened everyone's day and the white bunny made me smile ...lol 😉. Wishing you a Happy T Day and keep well! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to track as I saw new streets and developments around town. And I loved the fluffy bunny when I saw the video
DeleteGood morning, wow what a clever and very fun event for all the kids-and big kids too Happy T hugs Kathy
ReplyDeleteThis big kid got a kick out of it
DeleteOur town up north used to do this at Christmas time with Santa Claus. The kids loved it! Down here no such thing....I miss it.....
ReplyDeleteThey do the Santa Claus parade every year. This is the first year that I've seen them do an Easter Parade
DeleteWow! How wonderful for kids and adults! Such a great idea:) Hope you had a great Easter!
ReplyDeleteWe had a nice day
DeleteFire companies did the same in our town and surrounding areas, with the Easter bunny dropping baskets in the driveways or sidewalks for the young ones. It was a joy to see the delight on these kids faces:) Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteOh, that was a sweet idea
DeleteHow sweet for the kids and even the families. However, I was a bit concerned that no one in the fire department wore a mask. Monkey see, monkey do. Loved seeing the daffs or maybe they are jonquils. I can't ever tell the difference.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this video with us as you sipped your tea for T this Tuesday.
Well, the EB and the fire fighter on the ladder truck didn't have to worry since the EB's whole head was covered. The fire trucks are really wide so I bet the driver and passenger were close to 6 feet apart.
DeleteJonquils are pale yellow. Daffs are the bright, sunny yellow
What a shame the parade didn’t pass your house, in Spain Easter is a big Fiesta with statues being carried down from the churches and big parades, unfortunately it had to be cancelled, it’s a shame as In this area the people aren’t wealthy and it’s a good time for the restaurants to make money, I’m not sure many will reopen again as many only make a pittance anyway.
ReplyDeleteWell will see, HappyT Day, Jan x
Sad that things had to be cancelled, but imagine how joyous next year will be. Also a shame about the small restaurants and businesses. Hopefully, they can reopen.
DeleteThe Easter parade sounds like a fun idea! I'm impressed they filmed it. That way everybody could see :) Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteIt was nice that someone thought to film it and to put it up on YouTube so it could be shared.
DeleteWhat a sweet idea ~ Stay well!
ReplyDeleteIt was cute
DeleteThat's a disappointment after getting your hopes up. But what a great idea to have the truck drive through town so the people on the route could wave.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
They really went to the areas where there are more children. So a fun thing to break up the tedium of confinement.
DeleteThe Easter parade sounded a fun event, sadly, I think it would have been cancelled in the UK in case folk were tempted to gather together to watch the parade.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day wishes.
Stay safe and well.
Yvonne xx
I suppose that's the advantage of living in a rural area. Houses are pretty far apart. And I also think this was a spur of the moment decision so it didn't give people time to call friends and relatives over.
DeleteAww, what fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was
DeleteI think lots of town were doing that, including ours.It was a good idea for all the kids (both big and small). And I see you are a Peeps person. They make me think of my brother as he was the Peeps lover in my family growing up. Hope you had a nice T Day and enjoyed some sunshine. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThose are plush Peeps. I think Peeps are disgusting though they are fun to blow up in the microwave (inside a Ziplock bag) 😺
DeleteHaven't had that experience before.
ReplyDeletePeeps are truly awful. When I was 5, I ate so many that my throat clogged up.
That must have been horrible
DeleteThat´s cute as a "Button"!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! BIG WOW! We have nothing like that! Thank you so much for sharing! You have me smile big in delight :-)
You get that for Christmas, too??? Great!
I remember back in the 90´s when I studied. There Coca Cola Trucks silently went through the town. Hm. Yours are WAY cooler and more fun!
Yup, the Fire Department hauls Santa, Mrs. Claus, and a tall, skinny Elf around town. The town is divided into 3 routes and each Sunday before Christmas, the Fire Department makes a run so that almost everyone in town gets to see Santa.
DeleteThat's very cute! I heard that a neighboring community did that as well over the weekend. Fun for the littles. HEck with nothing else going on...fun for the biggies too. LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the town cable station recorded the event for all to enjoy
DeleteWoww This Easter parade is a great idea CJ !! And funny too.
ReplyDeleteI wish you spent a lovely T-day ! Here we stay at home, with nothing special for Easter this year, strange!
I wish you a very nice afternoon, stay safe and well, and biig hugss
Caty
We are quarantined too so it was an odd Easter this year. People could go out into their yard or watch from the window as the parade went by. Or watch the video. A nice diversion from the fire department.
DeleteHow thoughtful and generous that the fire department and first responders sponsored an Easter Parade. I'm sure many people were cheered by seeing EB. It's just too bad they by-passed your neighbrhood. You were very resourceful to find a video instead!
ReplyDeleteStay safe and stay well.
Happy T-Day! Eileen xx
In this age of social media, it was a pretty sure bet someone had filmed the parade.
DeleteWhat a fun idea for an Easter parade! Your fire department really does have enough engines and vehicles for its own little parade. Too bad it didn't come by your house, but nice that there is a video of it. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteAnd the fire fighters in our town are a volunteer brigade
DeleteVolunteer? Good for them!
DeleteSorry you didn't get to see the Easter Bunny - those trucks do make a big noise don't they? Glad you got to see it on film! Belated Happy T Day! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteYup, I'm glad it was filmed and put online.
DeleteThanks for showing us the video! I saw the Easter Bunny! How special! Too bad they didn't come by your house!
ReplyDeleteWell, not many little people in my area of town so better that the EB was taken to the developments that had young families so the children could see him.
